The TB test upon entry into the US

Does the civil surgeon HAVE to do the entire medical? My wife only needed the follow up TB test which he did. The problem came when the staff said he would not seal the results unless he completes the entire exam for $200.00. I am seeing many many reports of nothing but problems with these civil "surgeons" . Anyone out there able to get just the TB re-test done?

Thanks

Comments : She recived the first notice from Manila on Valentines day. Perfect timing.

The first setback came during the medical. Naty had to do the 3 day sputum and then we waited 2 months for the results. YESSSS>came back negative

Went for her interview on July 16th and received her Pink Slip......Finally. Paid the AIR21 and I expect her here August 10th, 2009. Marriage will be August 21st, exactly 4 years to the day that we first met.

Based on our experience the follow up test can be done by any doctor (we had our civilian doctor do the test & we forwarded the results). It wasn't a full blown exam, just the TB test & a chest X-ray.

Some of the CS take their government classification as license to steal

So if her regular doctor here does the TB test and seals the envelope, this should satisfy the requirement? I thought it had to be a civil surgeon

No need to have another full exam. It hasn't been one year yet since she had the medical exam at St. Luke's.

See if this link could be of help:

My doctor did the exam and referred us out for the chest X-ray. The results were sent directly to them & everything was accepted. They (I don't recall exactly who "they" were) did want us to come in & have their docs do the tests but it was inconvenient for us. I hope this info helps.

That will not work.

The final sign-off on the form is the CS.

You could have your tests/shots done from another doctor, and take the info to the CS, they can then transcribe the info, sign, seal and you will on your way.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

OK, this is starting to make sense to me now. That sounds like a good idea. Thanks

Here to share my experience. First, I went to the county health Department to have the TB skin test. 48 hours later, they asked me to go back for the reading of the test. I was found to be carrying TB germs so they asked me to have chest x-ray. Immediately after that, the doctor told me that I have latent TB so she made me decide whether to take Isoniazid or not. I chose to take it so they documented everything and that record was brought to the Civil Surgeon. I also took Tdap and Vericella vaccine with the county health department for 15 dollars each shot. I showed all these to the civil surgeon.

The said CS did not want to sign my form I-693 until I agreed to have another medical with them just for blood work (HIV, etc.). This costed 129 dollars.
