UK transit visa required?

Hi all -

My fiance picked up his K1 visa this morning at the Embassy in Nairobi. I've been looking at flights for him and the cheapest one I've found is on British Airways (Nairobi - London - Dallas.) A coworker told me he would need a transit visa, but when I looked on www.ukvisas.gov it seems that is incorrect based on this:

Am I exempt from the DATV requirement?

You will be exempt from the DATV requirement and may be able to transit without visa if you hold one of the following.

A valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country for which you have the entry visa.

Anyone have any experience transiting through Heathrow? Did you/your fiance(e) run into any problems with immigration officials? I don't want him to run into problems in London...he has never flown internationally before & I won't be with him so I'm just trying to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. Thanks in advance for your help!

You will have a valid visa (K-1) and a valid airline ticket to the US (which issued the K-1 visa) - so from what you posted - you should have no issues.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Ok thanks y'all...I just wasn't sure if he would have to have some kind of information proving the exceptions with him or what. I just don't want him to have any troubles!
