Redundant Biometrics

When I crossed the border and when I had my interview for K1 I had my finger prints and photo taken. So my question is, why do I have to do my biometrics again for EAD and AOS. Seems redundant to me....

USCIS is not the CBP.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

No sht.

I'm just saying you'd think that they'd have some system in place that USCIS could communicate with other government agencies to speed things along and save time for everyone.

Part of the USCIS full employment act....

Just out of curiosity, when you crossed the border was it full set fingerprints or partial?

YMMV

It was full. The guy even said "they'll use this for your green card." Also, they never opened the package I received with my K1 visa. Is that the norm?

Sorry, is required. Make sure you show up at the ASC for yer biometrics appointment. Quit B|tching - yer in the USA now.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hopefully, yer good at showing up for appointments. If yer truly a K-1 visa person, then it's not like yer busy working, right? There's other things to do, other things to occupy yer time, yes?

Think of 'showing up for the multiple ASC appointments' as something else to do, to fill up yer time.

Who Knows? You'll be there often enough - YOU MIGHT MAKE A NEW FRIEND !!!

My apologies if it seemed I was baiting you. Truly - I'm not. It just seemed to me that yer were complaining about a process that you cannot change. Sorry if you get torqued about it - but what, really, are yer options? I see NONE, except to go. Perhaps you know of other options, yes?

Be Well, and Well Rested !!

ps - i keep my chopsticks behind my ears, when I type - so both hands are free ;)

I don't recall saying that I was not going to attend my appointment. I simply wanted to to understand why people are required to do their biometrics multiple times. And now I get it, well I understand the answer is "just because" and that's fine. I just find some of the redundancies in the process slightly unnecessary, but oh well. I would go 5 times if I have to, that is not the issue. I was simply asking a question - isn't that what this site is for?

Actually I thought the same thing, it was done with at scanner at the POE why couldn't they just email it. But the biometrics was a little more indepth. The POE took all the fingers on one hand at once, then the other hand and then the thumbs, (partial print analysis) Biometrics did that as well as individual finger prints (full set). To the OP, I think that is the difference that Bobby +Umit was asking you.

There's more picture and finger print taking for the LPRs when they come back to the US from abroad. I think that started a year ago. Now it's the same for LPRs and visitors to the US.

I think once someone is naturalized you're finally done with fingerprinting and pictures - they wave USCs right through.
