Like I said before my wife and I are in the Pittsburgh area if you decide to head down this way. There are a few places here, but for some reason I remember hearing Cleveland may have a bigger population of Vietnamese therefore they may have larger markets their. When my wife first arrived we took a trip out to Philly thanks to our friends living out that way. They have a large market area in Philly. We were able to get all the neccesities and stock up on a lot of the other stuff. It would probably be around 6 hrs for you. It was also great to show her another City.

Good luck on your journey together!!!!!

Congrats - thats awesome!!! I suspect it will take some time for her to adjust. It always seems like it is much easier to adjust going east than when traveling west. Give her all the time she needs!!! I'm heading home shortly because my butt is dragging big time today, I figure it will take a full two weeks to be completely adjusted back after 6 weeks in VN. I also hear Avatar is really good, sounds like a great idea. Were working on ways to integrate Eastern and Western foods into our new life together. I love Asian food so I'm looking for a good place to buy supplies, may have to travel to a larger market like Buffalo, Cleveland or Pittsburgh to get them (they are all about 1,5 to 2 hrs from Erie).

Will you be bringing her back or will she be making the journey here alone? Best Wishes for a safe journey. Let us know when she arrives and how things went through POE.

If anyone else is having this problems, I recommend using baby oil right after getting out of the shower.

Baby oil works but... its not as hydrating as cocoa butter. What you need to look for is hydration rather than moisturising. I find it takes me about 3-4 weeks for my skin to adapt to the dry AZ climate, even in winter. My daughter's mixed race so she struggles even more and the body shop makes the most fantastic body cream. It's not cheap but wow, what a difference. Vaseline also do large pump bottles of cocoa butter that works well too..

I know you must be excited about Tran coming to live with you. It is a great feeling. Your journey together can finally begin.

This is just speaking from experience. You just need to remember how fresh the seafood is in Vietnam. I remember taking my wife to Red Lobster for the first time. It does not compare to the fresh seafood she was used to eating. We haven't been back since. Also most Chinese restaraunts in the US have Americanized their food to our tastes. My wife prefers the more traditional Chinese food that isn't so sweet. We found a great Tokoyo Sushi buffet that serves a lot of Sushi and traditional Asian dishes that she loves.

You and Tran will have a lot of learning experiences after she settles in the US.

I think the food is going to be one of our biggest challenges. I like the food over here and she likes the food over there. I remember getting to the bottom of a pot of chicken soup seeing a chicken head. I had soup someplace where they had boiled craft shells and instead of draining the shells and covering them with butter and cheese they served it as soup in the water it was boiled in. I also had soup where they used corn cobs without the corn and sliced cucumbers. Ice cream that tastes like somebody garlic.

We have a few resteraunts here where they get fresh seafood everyday maybe I will take her there instead of red lobster. I know she would want a lobster if we went there and I hate to condem one of them to death

Hi Everyone - what is best to use for nosebleeds? She has been using moisturizer and her skin is doing good but her nose is really dried out. Not bleeding so much but traces of dried blood. Maybe I should install a humidifier in the furnace. The air does get really dry when the furnace runs alot. I was thinking maybe a little vaseline. Most of your cocoa butters and lotions have fragrances in them and not sure she wants to be smelling it all the time. I tried it on myself and used too much and could taste it all day hahaha. Dont want to experiment on the love of my life!!!

A humidifier is fixed solution for your home, but she's probably experiencing the effects of the cold and dryness outside. My nephew takes a medication for allergies that helps with his nose bleeds. I want to say it's singular, but it's by perscription only. If the problem persists with your wife's nosebleeds, you should take her to see a doctor about getting on a perscription.

My mother in law sent some VNese medicine back with me last time for her grandson (my husband's nephew), it was basically like "monkey blood" so I don't know how effective that was. My sister-in-law thought it had to do with him eating candy, but I just think its the climate.

I just recently went to the Body Shop with my sister and she bought like 10 tubs of their body cream. Went home to use it and it made her skin drier than before she used it!! It smelt real yummy though, but didn't have the effect we were looking for.

With the cold, dry weather, my skin will get patches of dryness and I find that the body scrub from Orgins REALLY helps--the one with the salt and oil in it...

But I swear by baby oil...no dry, irritated, itchy skin all day long!!

Hey Jim, thanks for the info. She was asking if she can just use yahoo with the webcam and mic to talk to her family. I know the quality of service is rocky at their home in Nha Trang but wre going to give it a try and see how it works. I've got to get a PC for home since I've been carring my laptop back and forth from work for years. I guess its time to break down and finally buy a dedicated home PC!!!!! I've been a tightwad for too long and this is a great excuse to splurge a little (not that I have much left after 4 trips to VN last year and 6 weeks the last time)!

I like localphone.com

Very cheap if you're able to use one of their access numbers without paying a local toll.

Each contact you list will have a unique access number that can be used from whichever phone lines you specify, landline or mobile. It's 3.3 cents for HCM, and 4.9 cents for mobile pay in advance, with no hidden charges. It's also flexible to allow you to change access numbers whenever you move or travel, or to use the service as a phone card. It also is transparent with the detail call history. Very simple and streamlined.

Phuong had nosebleeds for the first couple of weeks. We just got some saline nasal spray from the local Walgreens. That helped. She seems to have gotten aclimated now, since she doesn't get the nosebleeds anymore.
