IDF hospital set up in Haiti

So I'm driving home from work tonight and I hear a story about a baby being delivered at a makeshift IDF hospital somewhere near Port-Au-Prince. The relief effort and blah, blah, blah... then I remember hearing the Saudis had pledged to help out and it got me thinking about the Saudis and Israelis working in cahoots to rescue Hatians and I actually sang a little kumbaya and imagined them holding up a piece of concrete, really straining, maybe wiping sweat from each others' brow, to pull out a skinny Hatian dude from beneath the rubble. High fives all around and for a split-second, they forgot their differences.

Then I wondered if the AP photo would be posted on Al-Jazeera and America would be somehow blamed for orchestrating this massive earthquake and subsequent relief effort. Would the Saudis who'd helped the kafirs lift the concrete face persecution back home? Would the Israelis who'd given goyim a hand be cast aside by their countrymen?

Or for once, finally, could we globally set aside our differences and help black people?

Since this whole deal is a Chasing Amy situation, I thought back on the fact that Cali just had a 6.5 earthquake a couple days before without a single death. Are we really trying to act like a one-world community where EVERY life is just as important as the next? Are we trying, globally, to act like Hatians were doing something with their lives before this earthquake?

And here's the $64,000 question - are we all going to do something with our lives now?

Humanitarianism ought to be just that.

200,000+ deaths inspires a lot of goodwill towards the victims of such a disaster, a sentiment that is hardly alien to any human culture.

The Israelis have perhaps the best disaster search teams and field medics in the world. If I had more time I'd check, but I'm pretty sure that when a Muslim nation, such as Turkey, or Pakistan has suffered, the Israelis have offered their services and been welcomed.

Saving lives is a noble cause, one that should transcend both religion and politics.

Saving lives are really a great work from everyone that is kindhearted. The medical assistance that offers in such disasters are really a great help for the victims. They really need some help from other nations and private organizations.
