Now that my fiance has been approved, I've been shopping around for plane tickets. I found a really good one for 684 dollars after tax from Manila to Omaha. The 2 connect flights are in Hong Kong and then again in Chicago. Is there any problems booking a planet ticket out of the country for your fiance? Is it a good idea to have a connect flight in China?

That will be fine according to this site: https://www.delta.com/planning_reservations...ation/index.jsp

I know there are other people that have actual experiences with this though and they will most likely chime in. That would be one long flight from HK to chicago!!! That is a killer price though.

We Purchased directly w/Continental.

There is a travel tax for Filipino Citizens of 1620p... Booth in the main lobby. You will also have to pay a 750p terminal

fee once you head toward the gate and before you pass thru immigration. I purchased the ticket via credit card and she

had no problem at the airport.

Baggage... Should be able to check 2 bags each weighing a maximum of 23kg without excess baggage charges. I did see

another counter for shipping extra bags for less in the main airport lobby. We were fine with the luggage.

Note: Other have suggested that she have a photocopy of your credit card used for the purchase...

Also, other then the POE in the USA... She should be able to pass through any connecting airports (Ie. China) without issue

since she will never actually go through their immigration. She will only be in the transfering passenger portion of the airport.

Even Passengers passing through the USA to get to other international destinations,,, do not have to have a USA Visa.

I go along witht the others. I did NWA (northwest airline) for two reason I hold a Perkcard with them.

You can apply free for one also with them.

And you can pay with your credit card and have the ticket in someone elses name.

And most of all there is no PLANE ticket sent in mail ..... it is a E-Ticket and has the account on for boarding.

We leave Feb 8th to go back to Cagayan De Oro for two months using NWA.

NOTE a round trip ticket cost almost if not the same as a ONE WAY.

I'd be satisfied with that price. I've been shopping to see what my fiance's ticket will cost and it's in the mid 700's to fly her to atlanta. one thing i have considered is that i am only interested in a ticket set that has her only flying to atlanta and no other US airport. I don't want her to have to go through customs elsewhere, then turn around and have to recheck her baggage. this is me though. it's still a 6-7 hour drive for me to go to atlanta, but it works out for us since we have a mini vacation planned already in that area before i introduce her to her new home.

i've been using www.bookingbuddy.com for ticket research and have had good results in the past with price comparison. it's amazing when you find a good ticket price and check the week before, just how much more the price is for the exact same flight. play around with which week and also what day. i've found that a flight leaving on a wednesday can cost 200 less than a flight leaving on a thursday of the same airline and same flight times, and same website. amazing price difference for only 24 hours right?

search and be patient.

good luck.

Also, if you're using a single-entry visa like the K-1, remember that when booking your flight, once the plane has landed on U.S. soil (includes all U.S. territories), you cannot have a connecting flight that goes through a different country - for example: flight from your home country then Guam (U.S. territory) then Japan then to your final destination in the U.S.

I know there are a LOT of "good deals" out there online for discount flights. But I want my girl to have a direct flight from Manila to LA, just to ease her mind and keep it simple for her first int'l flight. I don't mind that I paid $900 (thru her local travel agent). 'Cause just knowing that she steps on the plane in MNL and then off the plane in LAX and then into my arms....Priceless.

So, the "cheap price" that a Kano gets on the internet ticket with 2 stop overs and 10 hr standby time, well...that is a price for HER to pay, and isn't such a bargain to me. We DO tend to "Get what we pay for" in life.

Good luck to all flyers going to America soon!
