People, please don't buy these too often ill-bred dogs, they can be dangerous, especially when two or more are together. I know they are sweet as sugar in your lap but believe me, these same dogs that mauled her father to death were the same ones that cuddled on her couch as they watched TV.

Daughters Pit Bulls Kill Chicago Man in His Home

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police are investigating the death of a 56-year-old man who was apparently fatally mauled by his daughter's pit bulls.

The daughter told authorities she came home Sunday night and found her father, Johnny Wilson, lying on the living room floor, covered in blood. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said Wilson suffered numerous bite wounds on various parts of his body.

The daughter turned over four adult pit bulls and two puppies to Chicago Animal Care and Control, where the dogs were being evaluated.

Neighbors said there was no sign of dog fighting at the residence, and that Wilson had never seemed to have any problem with the dogs in the past.

No charges had been filed as of Monday morning.

Animals like this are restricted in the UK for precisely this reason. Perhaps similar rules ought to be adopted here.

Yes driving to work is more statistically dangerous.

I might not be likely to die in a housefire either, but that doesn't mean that we should stop making flame-resistant furniture.

Animals like this are restricted in the UK for precisely this reason. Perhaps similar rules ought to be adopted here.

I don't think that theUK law would be applicable in this case as the pit bulls didn't kill in a public place.

Short of physical abuse provoking the animal, any dog that will spontaneously attack and maul its owner to death can't be trusted.

Well I don't think HE was the owner, the daughter was...having reared and trained a Japanese Akita, knowing and being aware of what dogs are capable of is paramount. My dog never hurt anyone, but she was very loyal to family members, and I never left her in a room with any of my children's friends...because if there was any "horseplay" I wouldn't doubt that her instinct would have kicked in...the moment you start treating your dog like a human being is when you are asking for trouble.

You can look this up, but there are CDC statistics that state that pit bulls are overwhelmingly responsible for the majority of canine related fatalities of humans. Rottweillers are second.

The problem is people tend to humanize their animal believing the animals nature is similar to theirs.

As you said.. THEY DON"T UNDERSTAND THE ANIMAL.

Once I tried to have a conversation with my best friends wife about this Pit bull someone left at their house and they kinda adopted, she would not hear a word of caution because this dog was very sweet to her.

It wasn't long after, that the Pit tore into a neighbors small dog leaving it's stomach open. The vet bill was over a grand and my friend had to pay it.

He either shot it or gave it away, I forget now but they were lucky it was not a kid.

They also had two German Shepards at one time, the female who was very submissive around the house had a thing for killing other dogs, once it even dragged home a goat.

Anyone who has had or been around aggressive Breeds knows the Multiplyer effect several of these dogs can have on each other, this I think is the most dangerous situation as they egg each other on and elevate each others aggressiveness.

Also escape from a 2 dog attack is not very likely.

There should be only one reason to breed a purebred dog. Any reputable breeder should know it's to BETTER THE BREED. If the study of pedigrees and genetics isn't taken seriously, neuter the animal and keep it as a pet.

The problem is many people buying Dogs have little idea how important selective breeding is, they think if it is 100% pit bull, Beagle or Poodle, thats all that matters.

Lets be honest, among others Pit bulls are the number one dog for Wannabe gangbangers both in the ghetto and trailer parks, it is amazing how many I see on the street these days.

I seriously doubt most of these folks even understand what the Pit bull Standard even is.... never mind breed to reach it.

Is it certain the dogs killed him? It says that he was covered in bites, but he might of died of something unrelated and then they attacked him...just a thought.
