Oh whoops! I'm sorry... I was thinking of another poster! Sorry -- you're good.

But I stand by my theory that this place is great for information and support.

CR1 -- you are correct -- my apologies...

Hmm...we were married on August 20, 2009, do I still need to change something?

If you ask any of my close, close friends or relatives they'll tell you the same thing about me...smart guy, but he can't fill out a form without three people to help him.

So you can imagine that this process has been ...frustrating for me. And now I'm going to have to explain to my wife that moving here in early June will almost certainly not happen. *sighs*

Oh man, i thought it was the other poster who was asking about vaccinations and such from BC...

Wow.

I had a brain fart there for sure....

PS,

Gregbu? It'll go by faster than you think, for the both of you...

Promise...

:)

You have a wife and filled an I-130, which sounds like a CR-1 to me! Your timeline is fine. Lgg is just confused :P

Not to discourage you but that 5 months is only for the first part of the process.

They have been turning NOA2s around much faster than that.

Once you have your NOA2 you need to go through NVC and then wait for an interview.

I filed in September and was finished with NVC in December. I hope to have an interview for April or May. :)

So, as of very early December we have our NOA1 (California Service Center). We're waiting on our NOA2 (grrr).

My wife graduates from Grad School in very late May. If she doesn't have her Visa by then, what are her options? Our plans had been for her to move down here once she had graduated.

I don't think she'll have her visa by then - but I could be wrong.

Whilst yer waiting - maybe time to review NVC Electronic Processing?

Yeah, I'm so silly...when the processing time for I-130s, according to the USCIS.gov website table, when I check timelines, said 5 months.

There was nothing to suggest otherwise, so I thought that if they acknowledged our filing in early December, then by the end of May we should be set.

*sighs*

Thank you all for the info and advice.

that's for petition approval - not 'visa approval'

Since yer a CR-1 - you've other stuff to do AFTER visa approval - like

NVC Processing :D

I heard nasty rumour :(

1. Montreal is understaffed in the IV Unit

2. Turn-around from 'consulate received' to 'interview date' between 4 to 6 months. and growing longer.

I would suggest that you OPT IN for NVC Electronic Processing, then plan to spend the summer with her in Canada (and handle yer NVC processing whilst yer in Canada ) - you've enough time to find USA job NOW that will let you telecommute for the summer.

AS I RECALL - from where you are now - it's

RECV NOA-2

casefile sent to NVC

NVC PROCESSING

NVC Send Casefile to Embassy/Consulate

some magical scheduling thing happens , interview date is set

P4 packet sent out

Medical Exam is done

Interview Day

Visa in Passport Delivered

(I might have missed a step or gotten something outta order )

So, you gots some more to wait on, more to do.

No, there is no such thing for a CR1/IR1 - some people refer to the interview letter by that name though.

I'm checking out NVC Electronic Processing now...as to the other. If I didn't have a really good job already, I'd definitely consider that. :)

Hmm. I think your rumor is a little outdated. :)

The current rumor (based on what two or three Canadian VJers have been told by NVC agents quite recently) is that Montreal is now fully staffed again and they're working on the backlog. This is supported by last week's scheduling blitz, where CR-1 folks who'd had Case Complete at NVC from late July to very early November were scheduled for February.

That's a really good sign that things are picking up.

However, it still doesn't look good for a May interview for the OP. June or July are more realistic.

The waiting is hard -- very hard. But take advantage of the relative ease of travel, and try to visit with her every six weeks or so. It makes a huge difference when you have a date to look forward to. Time passes more quickly that way.

Na - not at all - I keep forgetting 'this ain't China' :D P4 is always sent for 'my' consulate - contains the medical examination forms and the appointment letter.

Uhm - if you've already DOWNLOADED the medical examination forms, then 'with an appointment letter' - should be 'set ' on forms (I THINK SO? )
