Hello to all Mommy/Iloy/Nanay/Ina/Inang whatever you call, I have a question who's having a baby here in CA using private insurance PPO if how much you paid out of your pocket after having a baby, I'm just curious because you know it's not cheap to have a baby here in US but at least we have an idea how much were going to prepare for everything, I'm trying to apply for AIM from the state which is insurance for pregnant woman even if you have a private insurance at the same time at least will help a little bit, I had like 3 times prenatal and my bills wow it like keeps coming like every week OMG even I had a lot of discount from my insurance but still scary amount...

I will appreciate any input that you can share, God Bless!!!

I just had a baby 5 months ago and my husband has insurance at work and he got me one too. I saw our bill and normal delivery costs around $13000. We did not pay any out-of-pocket fees but he has Health Savings Account and it has a deduction of $1300 for the delivery. All the prenatal check-ups were covered except for some lab work for my blood sugar which costs around $60 and we paid them when the bill comes in the mail. Our insurance is United Health Care. I have Medi-cal, insurance from from the State but did not use it.

We paid $1500 for the hospital. I was delivered the baby via C-section and our hospital bill reached $21,000 plus. The insurance shouldered the rest. Have a safe pregnancy and delivery!

You have a normal delivery? wow that"s too expensive my gosh...that"s scary I think I really need to apply from AIM I'm sure were not qualify for medical because of my husband's income, anyway thank you...

Call the Insurance Company and ask them or the Hospital where you plan to deliver the baby maybe they can give you a quote? When I gave birth to my son we only paid $125 as co-pay after delivery by C-Section. We didn't pay for check-ups except for some lab work and ultrasounds. You are paying too much with Private Insurance it would be a lot better if your husband has insurance coverage from his Employer and claim you as his dependent so you'll be covered also.

Actually I called the billing department from the OB/GYN she said that they will send us the quote and they will talk to us how much will gonna pay, I have my own insurance from my job and my husband trying to put me in his insurance (blue shield) as supplemental but there not going to approve because they said that its a pre-existing condition, that's why I'm planning to apply for a maternity insurance from the state I think it helps, so far for now I only have minimal amount to pay aside from the lab which is not included on my insurance, but the rest there's a huge discount so far because the clinic was one of the accredited clinic from my insurance, hopefully were not going to pay that much...thank you guys...
