Hopefully. Know that once you get it and your love arrives here this will all seem like a dark spot in the distance and after some time passes you'll hardly remember it.

My husband is here from Egypt. When he came over it was on tourist visa. He didn't even know me then. Well we met married and applied for adjustment of status. That was almost 2 yrs. He still hasn't gotton his green card they say we are in AP. I tried to get our congressman to help us and all they can do is make the call and see whats going on. What else can we do? We don't have the money for an attorney either.

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

Thank you my friend and do you even remember these days now? My advise to everyone here is to hang on and just know the consulate are doing their work and it takes time due to the enormous amount of applications and cases but eventually you will get your visa and will start your lives with you beloved ones :) if you are in AP for more than 3-4 months, contacting your congresman would help expediting the process isA

Updates:

Cairo embassy is too lazy to even read the email. We asked for his passport back (AGAIN) and how to go about that. They sent us the exact same message as before about AP. I don't recall asking anything about AP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ranting33va.gif I would like to at least be able to travel to the UK to meet my husband if nothing else.

Called DOS just for fun, they reviewed the notes and said "everything looks good" but still nothing to tell as far as AP length (of course). I asked even though I figured I knew the answer... "Can he travel on his B2 to the US?" No. He cannot travel on it until this is complete.

Called my Senator, and the representative will be contacting the embassy on behalf of my case but expects not to hear anything more than I already have.

Alhamdulillah.

My advice is sit back for awhile because the situation in Egypt is very loose meaning it's fluid or unstable. There are massive demonstrations scheduled for June 21st and June 30th. The Egyptian Military is being deployed ahead of time on June 28th for the one on the 30th which is the one year anniversary of Morsi's presidency. Anytime there are larger scale or violent demonstrations and instability from political unrest the Embassy can shut down operations for awhile. Watch their website for updates.

On their front page:

  • The safety of our clients and staff is our highest priority. Due to disruptions caused by the current security environment, consular services may experience unusual delays. This situation may affect processing times for visa applications and U.S. Citizen Services. Changes to appointment schedules may occur on very short notice. The Consular Section’s capacity to respond to inquiries is limited at this time due to the volume of inquiries. We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we strive to provide efficient service while prioritizing your safety.

Security Message to U.S. Citizens No. 48: Embassy Closed on Sunday June 30th

In anticipation of demonstrations that may turn violent, the U.S. Embassy will be closed to the public on June 30th. The U.S. Embassy will continue monitor conditions and announce decisions regarding its operating status.

As potentially violent protest activity may occur before June 30th, U.S. citizens are advised to maintain a low profile and restrict movement to the immediate area of their residences and neighborhoods starting on June 28. U.S. citizens should monitor announcements from the U.S. Embassy and local media in order to stay current with the situation. As the security situation is particularly unpredictable, please ensure you possess the necessary items should it be necessary to remain at home for an extended period.

Due to a report that opposition groups plan to solicit signatures at sixteen Cairo Metro stations on the morning of June 25, the U.S. Embassy is advising its personnel to utilize other transportation means. Though violence is not expected in connection with soliciting signatures, it is possible that confrontations between individuals involved and opposing groups could become violent.

As a matter of general practice, U.S. citizens should avoid areas where large gatherings may occur. Even demonstrations or events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. U.S. citizens in Egypt are urged to monitor local news reports and to plan their activities accordingly.

The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to review their personal security plans and remain alert to their surroundings at all times in Egypt. For the latest security information, U.S. citizens traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department of State’s Internet website where the Worldwide Caution, Country Specific Information for Egypt,Travel Warnings, and Travel Alerts, can be found. Follow us on Twitter and the Bureau of Consular Affairs page on Facebook, and download our free Smart Traveler App, available through iTunes or Google Play to have travel information at your fingertips.

Up-to-date information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the United States and Canada, or, for callers outside of the United States and Canada, on a regular toll-line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).

U.S. citizens are advised to maintain valid travel documents and enroll with the Department of State or the U.S. Embassy Cairo through the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program website. If you enroll we can keep you up to date with important safety and security announcements and can also help your family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency. U.S. citizens without Internet access may enroll directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

For further information, U.S. citizens may call the Embassy’s American Citizens Services Unit at 2797-2301 during business hours, Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Please refer to the American Citizens Services Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/USEmbassyCairoACS. For emergencies after business hours and on weekends and holidays, U.S. citizens can contact the Embassy Duty Officer via the Embassy switchboard at 2797-3300. The Embassy is located at 5 Tawfik Diab Street (formerly known as Latin America Street), Garden City, Cairo.

Well I t looks like my husband and I are now part of the "club: too

After our interview on June 2 in Cairo, the officer stated to my husband that we needed a joint sponsor, even i sent documents in with my husband for the officer to see...for the current situation(our case went suuuuupppeeerrrrr fast thru the system) and so I had a couple changes I needed the officer to look at since I didn't have time to resubmit the paperwork before the interview.

So from Cairo we resubmitted the documents that the officer never looked at to begin with and a two weeks later the case went from being :being reviewed for documents by the CO" to AP....

So I called the DOS confused by what this meant. The DOS assured me that the documents that i submitted to show the financials were accepted by the CO and not the case was in mandatory AP.

HE said that "every case goes thru AP" So I said, "oh you mean every case from Cairo" and he said "no, every case" I was silenced for a second because i was about to say NO THEY'RE NOT...lol but

I asked him to explain.

he said

"AP can be as little as processing the paperwork to the visa or a full background check on the person from the other county"

SO what is everyone take on this....

and what does everyone think about the embassy being closed? do we think it will be a long time?

is anyone else getting the "email box full" from the US Embassy in Cairo?

IS there anyone else I can email, the section chief or DOS chief?

On another note, before the emassy closed I was calling the embassy to get information about the case and the Embassy began to state that they no longer give information about immigrant visas over the phone and if I wanted information I would have to email. From reading above I can see that you all understand how that works(or doesnt)

Well anyway...I hope we all get thru fast and with ease.. Inshallah
