well i think usa is beautiful as a`tourist but to live in may be it is risky also it was not that hard in the airport and about racialism well it depends who you are and howdo u deal with people

but anyway it is risk it has to be done i still cannot give final decesion but i guess i ve got no other option than to take the risk

Hello. I am new here and I just posted on another forum, but maybe someone here can be of help too. My question is about a Tourist Visa for the US. My friend went last week to apply for a Tourist Visa to the US. He did his interview in Cairo. The man interviewing him said he had all the required paperwork to apply for tourist visa and everything "looked good" but then the man gave him back his passport and put a bar code sticker on the back of it and told him to track his case online and if his case was approved, then he will send in his passport via DHL and then they will send it back to him. He is an educated man, (attorney) and has strong ties to Egypt..owns his own place, has a good job, etc... they put him on Administrative Processing..or Review..I don't know which. I am not feeling optimistic about this because they gave him back his passport. :(

What is everyone elses opinion.

He applied last week, the week of May 6th, 2011 at the Cairo Embassay.

Administrative processing, or Review, it's just two faces to one coin, there not much that your friend can do now but wait for their decision after the AP.

Find a job you love to do, and you will never work another day in your life.

Finally, after nearly 4 months since our interview, the visa has been issued!!! Thank you everyone for all of your help and support. I wish everyone still waiting all the best!!

***Kinda strange, visa took exactly 1 year from the date VSC received our petition, until the visa was issued (see timeline below)

Thank you so much!! :) He hasn't received his passport back yet, so until he does I'm not making any concrete plans. The embassy wanted to know if he wanted to redo his TB test so that his visa would be valid longer or if he would be traveling within the next couple of months then he wouldn't have to redo it.

Do you have an interview date yet? I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, I hope it goes smoothly for the both of you!! I think being there too and waiting it out will help your case also. Keep me informed

Helloooooo! And Wow! I remember what a great support this thread was while going through AP/AR. There is loads of good information in here that is still relevant for anyone facing it today from our region, especially with all the delays due to turmoil in our region currently.

We're doing well for the most part. Still another year until we apply for Naturalization. I saw Hot Guy around here a few months back but not in the MENA section. He may check in here if you PM him.

Salam Alekom!

My husband is waiting as well for the consulate in Cairo.

Have you tried emailing the embassy?

Has your fiancee tried contacting her congressman?

I feel as well all this AP is crazy too. For some reason they seem to say "whenever the process is finished".

Try to email the embassy and see what they say. In the mean time have your fiancee contact her congressman office.

I will save you the trouble of emailing the embassy... I have received this messaged x2 in the exact same wording.

Thank you for your e-mail message.
