Well it looks like I am now part of this club. Our case has been sent to the embassy and they should be sending my finace Mohamed his packet soon. If anyone has any tips or suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Mandy

Here are some questions they might ask him at the interview :-

1-What's your fiancee full name?

2-How many times have you met?

3-When and how did you meet?

4- How long have you known each other?

5-How long were you together the last time?

6-What are the dates of the visits?

7-Where does she live? Which city and state?

8-What does she do for a living?

9-What is her phone number?

10-Do you know how long she has had this job?

11-Did you have an engagement party ? Please describe it .

12-Have you met her family?

13-Where does her parents live?

14-Why would you choose to marry so much older/younger than you?

15-How do you spell her middle name?

16-What are your fiancee parents names?

17-Does your wife have any brothers or sisters? What are their names?

18-Do you know if your fiancee was married before? How many times ?

19-When did she divorce her ex-husbands?

20-Does your fiancee have any children? how many ? What are their names? do they live with her?

21-Why do you want to travel to the United States?

22-What is your fiancee birth date?

23-Where was your fiancee born?

24-Where and when were you married?

25-What company does she work for and what is her title?

26-Did you prepare the forms yourself?

27-Which university did she graduate from?

28-What is her ex-husband's name?

29-have you talked to her family on the phone ?

30-Do they approve of your relationship?

31-When was her last divorce?

32-how long you known each other ?

33-what do you love about your fiancee?

34-what do your parents think about the engagement ?do they approve it ?

35-why your wife's marriage not work out ?

36-what did you send to your fiancee like gifts...?

37-what did she send to you ?

38-How much she make a year ?

Here are some tips for the interview:

1. Do not volunteer information. For most questions, the shorter and more direct the answers are, the shorter the interview and the higher the chance of success. If the question is a yes or no question, give yes or no answers only. If the question is a simple question like "What is your name?" answer simply with your name.

2. If you do not know the answer to a question, do not lie. Say, "I don't know the answer to that at this time." or "I don't remember."

3. The answer to many questions will be in the papers that were sent in the petitions. Questions like, "what are your fiancee's parent's names". They will expect you to know the information given in your petitions. Review everything in your paperwork with your fiancee before your interview, and do a mock interview to see how the information may be applied.

4. Avoid saying "I think . . .". Women do this a lot. The examiner will expect you to know not be unsure, of your answers. Also, avoid adding "umm", "you know" and "ahh" type fillers to your speech.

5. When applicable, don't just state, demonstrate. If the examiner asks a question that can be answered with a document or photograph(s), provide it along with your answer.

For example, if the examiner asks, "What does your family think of your fiancee?", give them a picture or two with your answer; "They like her very much. Here is a picture of her with my mother and father at my parent's home." .....

Or, "How many attended your engagement party?" Answer, "(give a number, then say) We have some lovely wedding photos of our guests having fun. Here are a few that I can show you."

6. Give American answers for dates and times. 12/24/07, not 24/12/07.

7. Dress well, but not overdressed.

8. Try to appear calm, well organized, and friendly. Nervousness raises suspicions.

9. Remain focused. If the examiner makes jokes, smile and enjoy, but do not make jokes too.

10. Make proper eye contact when conversing with the examiner, and try to control your own facial expressions so that your face remains pleasant and cordial.

11. Be audible so that your examiner doesn't have to ask you to repeat your answers.

12. Organize your papers in a way that will allow you to retrieve them easily and quickly. Examiners appreciate order and someone who doesn't waste their time.

13. When the interview is over, always ask for the results. "What should I now tell my fiancee about my visa status after our interview?" Before you leave, have them explain any papers they give to you and/or any procedures they will be taking to complete your case. Try to get the examiner's name for future reference, if needed. Write it down.

14. Arrive early to the consulate, but also be prepared to wait for a time past your scheduled interview appointment time. Be careful of thieves around the consulate if you have to carry cash. Bring ID; you cannot enter without it.

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Mohamed

Thanks for the advice! I noticed that you were in AP for quite a while, is there anything in the first interview that you would have done differently? I know that sometimes AP cannot be prevented, but if there is anything we can do to help reduce the chance of falling into this black hole we would like to know.

Thanks

Mandy

You are more than welcome .

Well my first interview went so good .The CO told me that its going to take 2 weeks till i get my visa .Yeah right!!!

Yeah i was under AP for almost 14 months .But i didn't do anything wrong at my first inetrview .I answered all of the questions just perfect .

But i guess i have a very very commen name .And i guess that someone who has the samiliar name like me has done something bad .It was so clear Espc when the embassy sent 4 people yeah i mean 4 people to my fiancee's home- now my wife - to interview her .They asked her very weired questions like if i told her that i hat USA or if i told her that im going to do something bad to USA when i will be there or if im a memeber of any bad organization which against USA ..........

And i was kinda sure that was it Espc when i went to DMV in NC to egt my DL .The officer there was so polite woman and she was like wooooooooow you know what you have a very very very similar name of someone who is already here in USA you guys almost have the same name and guess what ?!! i was like what  She was like you guys almost have the same birthdate to !!!!!!!!!

My thoughts to you and to your fiance just make sure that he knows everythings about you .Dont ever let them know or feel that he is worried .....

Good luck and my best wishes for you guys .

Feel free to ask me anything and i will do my best to help you .

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

Oh wooow that is crazy, similar name and birthdate...my fiance's name is Mohamed too  I know its a very common name (actually its the most popular name in the world :) )and I'm hoping we don't have any problems, but I'm trying not to get too excited and just prepare myself. Our case just spent 3 weeks in AP @ NVC and I hope thats the only delay we'll have. I will be going to Egypt soon and spending some months with him there, and attending the interview with him and hopefully we will return together. I also typed up over 100 possible questions with the answers and most of them he knows and doesn't need to look for the answers, but some he needs to study on. Thanks again and welcome to the USA!! :)

i hope i am wrong and he will get it in no time but if not then don't be so angry and impatient

No I don't hate you, like I said I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. Whatever is meant to be will be. However, I have been doing a lot of research on the embassy and AP, and I have seen where previous K1 visa applicants received their visa's within 2 weeks of the interview, so I know its not immpossible. We will do whatever we have to and deal with whatever comes our way. I know the chance of him being placed in AP is great, but there's nothing wrong with hoping and praying he doesn't :)

Moh knows alot and i would advize you to find out as much as u can about each other that u dont know.they may even ask him how old ur mother is.they may ask him where u went to school or what your place of employment is. they can ask anything and everything and just so you know, they have no feeling or emotion and dont think of you as someone in love. it is their duty to protect you to not marry someone that just wants their papers which is what i was told by them. they could care less whether your happy or not. and another thing.....expect AP and expect a long wait. dont get your hopes up just to be shot down. If your expecting a long wait then you will be pleasantly surprised if its short. Just telling you like it is hun and hoping your journey will be a nicer one than some of us have had but i just dont want you to go through the hurt some of us have had

well the journey started on 11 nov 2004 when my family decided to apply for me well it is my dad ( usc petitioner ) and mom (usc ) and two younger brothers (usc and lpr) immigrated to the us leaving me alone for more than seven years on a hope to catch them someday and as i reached te last step in the cairo embassy i was put in the adminstrative review well the kept my passport and white notice that i will get my visa 4-6 weeks and now i am in the fifth week nothing received ,well really i thought to call and say i really wanna cancel my immigration i am fed up the whole seven years and i donot want stay in this false dream any more , so what review they need if i didnot leave egypt since i was born or this a kind of torture to all middle easterns , really i am about to send a letter to the embassy

asking them to send my passport and i donot wish to have the honour of visiting holy america .if it were not for my family who are counting the days till i come

whatever i will wait and wait nothing except wait ,what a really wonder about is that the egyption authorities take much shorter time to give this clearance or name check ,thought i hope they they can train the american employees or give some advises or training courses or may be more technological scanning equipments may be it helps .
