I called DOS: 1-202-663-1225

I selected menu options: #1, 4, 2, 3, 3, 0

I called at 12:17 pm Mountain Time and listened to all the menu options again since they changed the greeting but I did not get through to a visa specialists.

The greeting now says due to the crisis in Haiti we're experiencing a high number of calls and may not be able to process all calls that come through. The menu options stayed the same but with more detailed explanations. Such as the immigrant visa to enter the country is usually good for 6 months to travel and the person must use their visa within these 6 months. It also addressed that some countries are given an amount of visas available for those to enter the country and each person must wait their turn. That some countries receive a higher volume of applicants then they have visas available at a certain time. That the consular can not take someone out of turn for the visa issuance so that may be part of the reason for the delay with the Embassy in Cairo besides the AP checks in Washington or Egypt. Also they said we can get identical information at their website: http://travel.state.gov

I am looking at the website now and I see two links that concern us right now and that's the Haiti Earthquake Assistance and TSA Guidance on Heightened Security Measures.

I am not seeing where I can plug in our case number for information so I am thinking they meant that the identical information concerns the details they give in the menu options. I did find something interesting on the site that may be affecting us and that is Congress preparing and meeting on 1/20/2010 about the Christmas Attack and the state of visa issuance. The Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, and Bureau of Diplomatic Security are all involved in this meeting. So that is also what has everyone elses attention. From the article is says since the attack, "The Department of State has been matching new threat information with our records of existing visas since 2002."

I don't want to try to call them again today. If they are all so busy my Congressman's office can't get a reply right now I might just wait till Feb. to try again.

The U.S. Department of State (Department), Office of Inspector General Hotline received your e-mail concerning your visa.

We reviewed your concerns and determined that the appropriate office to address this matter is the Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs, Executive Director (CA/EX). We have forwarded your correspondence for action to CA/EX and have asked that you be contacted directly for more information, if necessary.

Please refer future correspondence to the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, Attn: Executive Director, 2201 C Street NW., Washington, DC 20520.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Should you have any questions, please contact the office mentioned above.

Well it took them so long to reply me .I sent them that Email on Dec 7 .it took them almost 7 weeks to reply me .so i hope that they will send me an answer soon about what the heck is going ?!!!

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

Olivia why do you press 1,4, 2, 3, ,3 and 0? After you hear the message about Haiti and the second guy comes on there all you have to press is 1 and then 0 right after. I am sorry you have been having to wait so long on hold. I have been calling everyday and usually get put on hold for about 10 to 15 minutes. Before the Haiti incident it was definitely a lot easier to get through, but I think its getting a little easier to get a live person on the phone day by day. I also called DOS today and was told the case is still in processing and that I can try calling back next week for updates. I pray for the day when we all call and hear "Your visa has been issued." Im keeping everyone in my prayers!!!!

I choose those because those are the options that apply to our case. I never know if the menu options are going to change. Once I know the options I can zip through it without having to listen but that still doesn't stop the times I have to wait 30 minutes on hold for a visa specialist. I may have to try your way with the 1, 0 if that is faster.

Wallahe I am too. Well I think that if I dont hear anything about the visa by next week that I will contact my Congressman. Since we are out of AP then it cant hurt to contact them and see if they can get the embassy to do some work for a change and speed up the process. Do you guys think that is a bad idea?

Hello Everyone, some time they just send emails without checking your case, the last 3 replys email i got from the Consulate said they have the documents i send and my case was the final review with Co. Then today diffrent person replied and said please send divorce decree. so dont trust every email you got from them. it depends on the person who replies your email. today i send old emails and last email requsting the document, i will post as i got reply. I hope Hot Guy gets his visa before us coz he has been waiting for so long.
