Deserve a holiday? I am sure MLK wouldn't have demanded one, or felt that he 'dserved' one. Should America honour its progress from being a country that allowed some of its citizens to be constitutionally discriminated against to one where skin tone is of no consequence? Absolutely

Ok...I know some people have issues with prejudice but why is it that people have to expect things like "the poll would be different if it was about Reagan", etc. Let's see what the real results are after this poll is available for days. And there also aren't any options for why someone doesn't think it should be. They might not all be racist reasons. So people shouldn't assume.

I support it btw.

I believe MLK would be rolling over in his grave at what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have done in his name. This day is used by these two fvckheads to keep racism alive! After all they make a living off of it.

Yes we are all experts on what Martin Luther King Jr would be rolling over in his grave about. Right, he wouldn't be happy at all to see all the opportunities that have come to pass for people who didn't have them in his time. (sarcasm)

Like the hundreds of no-go zones?

Edit: No expert here, nor do I care to be on the topic. I'm just applying common sense with a touch of logic regarding what he battled for. EG Equal education access. Yet in 2010, many are evidently not interested in learning anything.

I vote no on this one, and, as was pointed out, it has nothing to do with racism. There are thousands of people who have contributed to this country, many of them more significantly than MLK. The only other person who has a National Holiday in their name is Columbus (I don't think he deserves it either). I don't believe we should create permanent national holidays to honor specific individuals.

One must acknowledge that an individual residing in a state where less than 4% of the population is AA, will have a totally different experience to that of another person residing in a state where 21% of the population is AA.

Everyone else is insignificant and a loser.
