Hi,

I am a US citizen. My wife is Japanese but we met and live in China. We were married in the States but never lived in the States together.

I am now looking at job opportunities back in the States and so I am studying up on what I must do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to VJ!! You'll find alot of good information here and good people to help with questions or at least direct you where you can find the answers to them!!! :thumbs:

if you are living with your wife in China, it sounds like you might want to file DCF at the embassy in China. Check out the guide section of VJ and it should give you a couple of options the way you want to file!!

8/1/12: ROC window opens
9/4/12: ROC packet sent
9/8/12: ROC packet delivered to VSC
9/12/12: Check cashed
9/14/12: NOA letter received (NOA dated 9/10/12)
9/20/12: Biometrics letter received (Bio appointment 10/15/12)
10/12/12: Early biometrics walk-in

4/27/13: RFE received

6/17/13: RFE response sent

7/1/13: ROC petition approved

7/5/13: GC received in the mail.

Ya, DCF would be the way to go - just be sure that AFTER YOU HAVE FILED THE I-130 (and before interview day at GUZ ) -

you have solid US Domicile evidence in place. An employment offer letter is excellent, also.

IS OK to leave for USA to get these things, AFTER the I-130 has been filed.

SOME DCF filers in China, in 2009, had this problem, did not get visa approval on interview day - but were allowed to get that stuff, bring back evidence later, with visa approval.

Other DCF filers in China, in 2009, addressed USA Domicile prior to interview day, went through on Interview Day with Visa Approval.

06/02/2011 - Package arrived and signed for at CSC

06/02/2011 - NOA receipt date

06/06/2011 - Check cashed

06/07/2011 - NOA arrived in the mail

06/15/2011 - Biometrics appointment letter arrived in the mail

07/11/2011 - Biometrics appointment

02/02/2012 - Phoned USCIS and put in a service request

02/08/2012 - Email from USCIS confirming my request

02/11/2012 - Letter from USCIS - says i should receive news within 30 days

03/14/2012 - Phoned USCIS again. 30 days has passed. no news. Took details again.

03/15/2012 -Received letter from USCIS - have to go to interview April 24th

04/24/2012 - Interview and ROC approved!!

05/07/2012 - Received email, card production ordered

05/11/2012 - Green card arrived

N-400

06/22/2012 - Mailed N-400 package to Phoenix/AZ Lockbox

06/26/2012 - NOA date

06/28/2012 - Check cashed

06/29/2012 - NOA arrived in the mail

07/02/2012 - Biometrics appointment letter arrived in mail
