EAD before AOS?

I was wondering do you get your EAD before your AOS or is it the other way around? I am scheduled for Biometrics this coming Thursday and I was just curious what comes after. Also why is my timeline not showing?

I had my biometrics on December 1, about 2 weeks later I got an approval letter for my EAD. A few days after that I got our interview datefor Jan 20. Right after New Year's I received my Employment Authorization Card in mail.

You'll get your EAD before your GC if that's what you're asking. For us it didn't make that much difference-we had our interview letter before the EAD even made it to us in the mail.

The EAD (and AP) are temporary benefits to use before the GC is approved. They are meant to be received before the GC. But occasionally, the GC comes first, but that's rare.

I've heard many people now getting their AOS done before EAD arrives, generally EAD first

Yeah I hope my EAD comes soon because I would like to start college soon but in order to get there I would have to get my driver's license first.
