Hi everyone,

my wife is about to file i-130 for her father, we have all the forms and doc ready. However, she has a concern regarding her father's current residency issue. Her father was born in China and he is still a Chinese citizen, but he moved to Hungary back in 1996 and lived there since then with a permanent resident card (they call it blue card). Therefore, will he be scheduled for a interview in China or Hungary? What about contact information?

Thank you so much for your help!

He can interview in Hungary, no problem - but - you'll have to do something on the I-130 to make sure the interview is in Hungary.

If you've already sent it in, don't worry yet...

You have opportunity to get this corrected at NVC stage.

Put down current contact info on the father.

After you receive NOA-2 - he'll need to get his documents from China, translated into English. Usually, another family member in China (listed in the hukuo book) can get this done at the big PSB, then take it to a notarial translation office for the translations (the translation document is called a 'white book' - the copy inside is a certified copy, and the translation is original translation ).

He'll also need a police report from everywhere he's lived since moving out of China, for those countries where he's lived more than 6 months at a time.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank you for all your help!

So when we filled out the I-130, we just used her father's current address, which is the one in Hungary. Her father already had his birth certificate and marriage certificate done. When NOA2 comes, He needs to start getting Police report from both Chinese and Hungarian police authorities.
