Hello everyone.

I married a foreign national (of Japan) and we went through the DCF process successfully. We are now living in the US but I had one question bothering me: Is our marriage legally recognized in the United States? That is, for tax purposes, etc?

If you are legally married in Japan, then you are legally married everywhere else

Good luck.

Of course it is, I married my husband in India, and then we went to the marriage registar and got or marriage certificate, I then brought this certificate back to the states and have used it to change my name on my SSC, DL and Bank Accounts... In a few weeks I will use it again to file my taxes. If you did the DCF then you would of already had to file a marriage certificate with the embassy in the country you lived in, that same certificate will be used for all your tax purposes here in the US
