I second Russia-visa.com. I've used them several times and they are reliable. They are located in Washington, DC. Together with FedEX charges, a one-month tourist visa will run you about $200 if you are willing to wait 10 business days. You can do it faster if you have to.

Does the $200 include the $131 visa fee?

Total is $200 for everything or $331?

It's completely true.

You can get an invitation from a company without using them to get the visa, which you can get yourself. You do not need a "visa company" to get your visa.

well, if you live close to a Russian Consulate/Embassy, and can deliver your documents yourself, maybe that works. I personally can't. Russian Consulate in NY requires a personal appearance of the applicant and if you can't make it, you have to use one of those "visa companies". The soonest they issue visa is in 3 days for an extra fee.

The child is eligible for Russian citizenship, but would have to apply for it. Not everyone wants their US-born children to have Russian citizenship, especially those with male children.

Yes, we're not going to be applying for any Russian citizenship and no visits back there anytime soon. We've already put her relatives on notice, they must come here if they want to see us :) And no, its her choice, not mine. She is just really tired of dealing with the hassles.

I am new to the form and I have a question much like this one. I am here with a completed AOS and Green Card. I want to take a trip back to Russia in the near future but my Russian Pasport is expired. I need to renew my Russian Pasport but when I called to Russian Consulate they told me that I need to get my American Marrage Document changed to state my married name. I did not know that I can change the name on my Marriage Documents. I do not understand this. They say that I am married and my new name should be on my my American Marrage Documet to prove that I am who I am. Has anyone had a case like this before? I know that I must renew my Russian Pasport but how do I get my Marrage Documents to say my new name? There must be something I don't understand.

What they probably need is something showing your "new" name.

Did you change your name?

American marriage document is probably your marriage license. Mine doesn't show my wife's name as her "new" name, only her "old" name.

Do you have a driver's license or state ID? Either of those should show your "new" name as should your Social Security card, Green Card, etc. They wouldn't accept those at the consulate?

You cannot change your name on your marriage documents. In the US when you get married you provide the State Department with your "name change document" when you request a passport in your new married name. In the case of the US Passport the marriage certificate is sufficient.

If I am not mistaken the Russians love beauracracy and require your marriage certificate to be authenticated by Apostille in order to change your name on your new Russian passport. They will not accept the marriage document unless this is done, assuming you got married here in the US. If you got married in Russia then your marriage documents as they are should be sufficient. To get your apostile stamps you need to go to your State and County web sites to figure out the correct starting point.

Good luck

OK, sounds like you want to just buy the invitation and do the rest yourself. You will send the document to the Russian embassy or consulate. Check their website for your location. Might be much quicker and easier for the few extra dollars to have the folks at Russia-visa.com do everything. Fill out the info online and send in the passport. You can call them too if there is some confusion.

Guys,

I am so confused. I am in panick, because we already bought tickets to Russia on April. And I was going to apply for a TOURIST visa for my infant who only has US citizenship. I have only Russian + green card. We are going to stay at my mom's house, not in hotel. I was told by visa agency that I cant apply for a TOURIST visa!!! They said I need homestay visa with the official invitation from my mom. IS THAT TRUE????
