Sea Shepherd Hippies Ship destroyed by Japanese security vessel

At first glance, you would think that Batman has some sort of button he could push to avoid a collision with a security vessel attached to a whaling fleet. Obviously not.

The good news, self-righteous ignorant enviro-radicals got really wet and lost their 1.5 million dollar boat. Follow up question - Why do you need a stealth boat if you are going to float around in plain view to get pegged with a water cannon?"

Would have a better chance in the Yellow Submarine.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Since when was killing 500 whales per season a "research" project.

Japan is flouting the ban on commercial whaling and the Sea Shepherds are one of the groups trying to do something about it in a non-violent manner. After this incident, I hope someone donates a recently decommissioned warship and some torpedoes to them, so they can go out and sink the slanty-eyed bar-stewards.

Japanese fishermen are flagrant poachers. I spent some time at KMR, during the cold war, and there were more Japanese vessels sneaking around, fishing, than the Russian "fishing" trawlers spying on what we were doing.

I'm with jundp - your post was good until you ruined it by making a racist comment.

Hey man. You knocked over my bong. Not cool.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

One little problem there. The perpetrators have to get home again, as the Sea Shepherds don't use suicide bombers, as its hard to die by an overdose of stink bombs.

Now a dinghy loaded with explosives presents a problem, as the Southern Ocean is cold and swimming in it is basically an exercise in futility. So, that rules out the exploding dinghy route and brings us back to torpedoes (or guns, Exocet missiles, etc.).

I know the Royal Navy is looking to offload the majority of its surface fleet (lack of money, seeing that the UK has no empire to police), any of which would be an affective deterrent to the Japanese whaling fleet. Or maybe the USA could sell them a decommissioned New Jersey class battleship.

or maybe the Japanese could just STOP KILLING WHALES!!!

Why would they do that?

There is an international whaling ban in effect now and no-one does a thing to enforce it on the Japanese. What else can be done to "persuade" the Japanese to stop whaling of their own accord?

And where is Godzilla when you need him?

smaller boat's fault - larger vessel has right of way and the smaller vessel sped up just before collision.

Allocation of fault is pointless. The Southern Ocean is a very big patch of water. If either vessel had any intention of avoiding a confrontation, there were many alternatives to this result.

The main lesson for the next time is the the Sea Shepherds need to make the collision count. One lesson they can learn from the Japanese this time around.

Yup. If you're captaining a 1.5 million dollar boat, I am sure that you must have some training and know the right of way rules on the water.
