Hi guys...I was very nervous to cross the border over the holidays with my I-130 pending. I wanted to say that with your help and advice it went just fine. Thanks for that. I did exactly what you recommended and so I am saying this for the benefit of those who have yet to do it and were nervous like me. I had a manila folder which I gave to the agent right away. I looked him in the eye when he asked the purpose of my visit. I told him to visit my husband and it was funny his eyes widened. (Montreal Trudeau Airport)

I said would you like to see my documents....he was like...."Duh, Yeah!" Lol. So I showed him I had a letter from my employer, my last two pay stubs, my last home phone bill, my lease, the copy of my NOA1, my return ticket documents. I did not have to go into secondary, but he called another agent over and told him my situation, and asked his opinion. The more senior man said, "You can let her go as long as you are convinced that she will return, but it seems as though she is trying to do the right thing, by bringing the documentation." He stamped my passport without a further thought, and told me to have a nice trip. YAY!!! I showed up more than 3 hours early just in case I was grilled in secondary. It all went better than I thought. The key is being prepared....and the manila folder, lol, I am convinced it made me look more organized!!

Good luck to all of you in a similar situation!! Thanks for the great help and advice of my friends at VisaJourney....I would be lost without your advice and support.

I STILL HATE THE TORTURE OF WAITING THOUGH.....

As long as you have a valid visa/vwp/canadian, you are allowed to visit the US.

However, the CBP makes that determination everytime you try to enter, and it's up to them if they allow you or not.

Best to bring evidence of strong ties showing your going to return home.

(2 way tickets, letter from employer, rental/lease/mortgage paperwork from home, etc...)

Since you showed that info - they let you through. Good going :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
