I saw a load of wedding stuff, favors etc. at the Christmas Tree Shop the other day. Some of it was even tasteful! Much cheaper than other places too considering most guests will throw stuff like that away.

I'm using a lot of gardenias for the center pieces and i almost threw up when the florist said just THREE blooms will run me $25 to $30 in October - I needed at least 30! :crying:

So, I got just a few for my bouqet and hair and my mom found some REALLY nice silk ones at JoAnn Fabrics, they even have a light gardenia scent and look very very real. I would definitley check out some craft stores, you could save a fortune.

Good luck and congratulations on being so close to THE DATE!

Someone at my office just gave me a brill idea yesterday. We are getting married on the beach in key west...going to be a small & intimate destination wedding with just a few people. I was looking into what kind of centerpiece to use & wanted a sand sculpture, but the only one I can find is of a castle, which I think is stupid.

My colleague told me to go to a craft store & get a styrofoam mold, then just bathe it in glue & dip it in sand.

I'd rather have someone do it for me, lol, but at the end of the day, if I can't find what I want, then just make it myself. So will let you know how it turns out....but it's a great idea for anyone doing a beach theme, and I'm sure it can't be a lot of money.

OOOOO! That is an awesome idea! Sand sculpture! Can't wait to see a pic of that :)

Lizzy, I used silk flowers and made my own bows (with a lil help from my friends), used tea lights from the dollar store in small votive cups (from same dollar store) as centerpieces at the reception, lots of tulle for decoration (77cents/yd at walmart) and ivy intertwined in the tulle (the ivy is growing in my yard). Nothing really matched but it gave the whole wedding a interesting look. I mean, I didn't have a specific theme for the wedding, but what we had worked beautifully. Michael's craft store was a constant source of inspiration and they have projects on their website (www.michaels.com). I found my dress at Ross Dress for Less (oooh la la what a store!) and even though it wasn't a traditional wedding dress, it worked!

Lots of great ideas already on here too. Best of luck with the wedding Lizzy! :luv:
