"touches" are when the date changes. if the date hasn't changed since you first got approval of NOA1, then you've had no "touches".

Touches mean your file has been "touched"/looked at.

Yeah I understand but what date are you refering to? I've look again and the only date I can see there is the date saying when they received my petition. Where can the touches date be found if there's any.

Thanks.

You'll have to Sign-up for Case Updates and add your case to your portfolio. If you're just checking the status of your case via the receipt #, it will only show tthe date the petition was received.

OUR JOURNEY SO FAR: (dd/mm/yyyy)

18/09/09 - CR1 NOA1

16/07/10 - POE LAX (256 days NOA1 to interview)

27/09/10 - Aussie/American bun in the oven due May 10, 2011

No, you won't get e-mail updates when your file has been touched. Being touched really means nothing. Your peititon has been bar coded and everytime someone handles your petition, the bar code is swiped and the "Last Updated" date on the USCIS website changes. But that bar code could be swiped because your file was counted, moved to another filing cabinet, sent to another storage facility. etc. So even if your file has been touched, maybe it was because they moved your file from filing cabinet A to filing cabinet B due to a leaky pipe.

The USCIS phone line is frequently called the 'misinformation line' as they often give you info that is not true. When you call, you don't get the service center your petition is at, you get a switchboard operator which can only read what is on their computer screen, which is the same screen you can see once you sign up on the USCIS website to track your petition.

Good luck.
