Hi, we made it to our interview. Unfortunately, I can't make it. Is it a requirement that I be there? I hope not, in everything I have seen, I just assumed NO. Please put last minute worries to rest for us and confirm or deny. If yes i need to be there, well can we reschedule the interview?

You are not required to be there, and if I am correct the won't let you into the interview room anyway. Just make sure your wife/husband has all the papers and proof of ongoing marriage.

I would suggest posting this in the Latin American subforum so folks who've gone through this in Colombia can respond. It is different at different Consulates/countries as to whether it is necessary or encouraged.

Unfortunately, from what I have heard, it is a very bad idea in Columbia to not be at the interview. You are much more likely to be denied for bonafide relationship issues.

It's not mandatory for the petitioner to be present at the interview but it's always encouraged.

It depends on the consluate. Some consulates almost require you to attend, where others will NOT allow you to be interviewed. Brazil allows the USC to attend, but it is FAR from a requirement.

Ask this question of Colombians and don't accept any other responses as the final word. You'll see that some people say YES and others say NO - and none of them are from Colombia .
