Howdy all. My wife and stepson have their visas in hand (as of yesterday 01/15). We are in the process of working out travel details now. At the end of the month I will be moving to a larger apartment (to accommodate my growing family :) so the address will change (just the apartment number, though). Who do I let know of this change at this point:

1. USCIS

2. NVC

3. Embassy in Lima

4. Just inform at POE.

5. All of the above

6. Some combination of the above.

7. None of the above

???

Thanks in advance (and if this is in the Wiki, please guide me to it)...

Mark :)

Bump.

When I entered they confirmed my current US address so informing at POE should be sufficient. Your wife can reconfirm this when she is being processed. If you were to move after the POE then your wife would need to file an AR-11 and you would need to file I-865.

Good luck

Thanks for the info. To follow up, I called USCIS this morning and confirmed that you do inform POE. Then make sure to contact USCIS if you don't receive the welcome letter at that address and report the change to them at that time. They cannot take the change at this point, not until they are physically in country with their I-551.

Now, hopefully this thread will come up in a search for the next guy that comes after me :)

The I-865 requires an A#. This is assigned at POE, right? If so, I can't complete this form until they actually enter, or can you fill it out indicating "unknown" or "unassigned" in the spot for A#?

Of course, if I would learn to read instructions, it tells you to write "None"... Duh.

Check that. Writing "None" would be for me. It does not say what to do in part 2 which is the sponsored immigrant's info. So the question stands. What do I do?

isn't it in the VISA STAMP in the passport, issued by the Embassy?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I haven't actually seen it and my wife indicated that she couldn't see one. I will ask her again tonight.

Yes, you will find it on the visa page of her passport. It is listed under the registration number. My "A" number is the registration number with a "0" added to the front. For example on my visa the number was listed as "12345678" and the A number on my green card is A 012-345-678.

Good luck.

Okay. We noted the "registration number". My concern was the lack of the "A" when she quoted it to me. My wife is lots smarter than I am (and, what's more important, smarter than I give her credit for). :)
