If you don't mind shopping online for tea this is about the best place I have found. http://www.teasource.com They do have Irish Breakfast tea - and I believe they sell most of their teas loose so you can buy it in whatever quantity you want. They have two storefronts in Minnesota, as well. Their tea is excellent - a friend from Minnesota introduced me to them. I order in Scottish Breakfast tea from them when I can't find it locally.

Thanks for the suggestions! I went for a tea searching mission this weekend. Couldn't find Barry's or Tetley's anywhere around here. I found PG Tips, but in a "specialist" store, so it's 6 dollars for a carton, way too much- similarly, I know a few online British/ Irish stores, but I don't want to pay through the nose for tea.

PG tips seem to be everywhere here. Have you tried Red Rose?

Twinings teas are good but expensive. I pay as muh for 15 bags as you would for 100 pg tips or red rose.

If you like loose teas see if you have a Teavana nearby!

Until now, my Irish friends kept me in tea supplies, but I think I need to make the leap and buy some US brand tea. I have had some standard black tea here at friends and in hotels, but it is usually very weak. I am not looking for "luxury" tea such as Earl Grey or Aasam tea, but a standard, strong black tea (similar to Barry's, Lyons or PG Tips in the UK/ Ireland) to have with milk and sugar. Comfort tea! I am looking for something I can get easily, ie in Walmart, Harps or similar. Suggestions?

it is a bit pricey but foodireland.com is a website by a company in upstate new york that sells various Irish food products. Nothing beats a good Barry's or Bewley's. You can get black and white pudding(not the same taste AT ALL but still decent), sausages, rashers, taytos, lucozade and a bunch of other stuff. If you are anywhere near a Wegman's grocery store they have an excellent international tea section complete with Lyons, Barrys and PG, but I know they are not a nationwide chain. Check out the website though, that goes for Brits too. Please reply and let me know what you thought whether you buy from them or not.

If you have a TJ Maxx, Christmas Tree Shop or a Marshalls near you, keep an eye out in their foody bits. They ALWAYS have some English and Irish teas, but its hit or miss as to specific brands...
