Your topic is the same as "who's married to a brunette, what do you like or what don't you like". Or, "who's married to a Pisces/ Aries/ Sagitarrius and how is that going for you" (actually that group might have more in common than the 45 MILLION or so women you just lumped together), or who's married to a woman under 5'5" and how's her cooking?

Yeah..I agree..but couldn't change things after it posted......You know I thought about it after I posted and realized that it should be more of a topic related to marrying a foreigner and integrating all those cultural differences into a lasting relationship. Not just with a filipina.... I'm just wondering how folks are dealing with some of these issues. It seems that there's a lot here about how to get married, how to get through the mangled process of the Visa.... but not a lot here about how to keep the flame burning and what to expect when you get your wish! I've been reading/lurking here for over a year, and feel very educated on the visa process....but not so on keeping my baby smiling and happy after she arrives! Actually that's my biggest concern.....keeping her in high spirits....It wasn't until my New Year's Eve party with her family that I realized I have some things to learn about her culture....

Well...I am actually leaving for Cebu in the morning (2nd trip but this time I'm packing a ring) and was just curious about how you VJ'rs maintain these relationships with so many cultural differences.....it seems I better work on my patience! Myself, I never specifically targeted my future with a filipina, it just happened that way and I'm glad it did! But long distance relationship is a PITA!!!!! I always tell my girl if we can last this long time apart we can make it through anything! Thanks for all the replies....and please if you post, keep it on topic....so it doesn't get the lock block.

Why do we do these threads? I am married to a filipina. Not because of her race or nationality. But lets be honest, this could be offending to other women, expecially american women. Lastly my wife is filipina and I am very happy, but from my point of view, its this kind of talk that make filipina women the most exploited women on the planet. And some filipina women actually dont see it, or acjnowledge what is going on here. My wife is a unique women, and does not deserve to be clumped into some group. I noticed the originator cant be identified as male or female.

You can say that again! Charles just deleted one of my posts for "baiting and racism". If my post was racist, then this whole thread is racist. Charles is just a wet blanket, numero uno!

Thanks for the warning Charles, I hope everyone will behave and be nice.

I can only advice on the newlywed part, and I think that's pretty general no matter where your partner is from.

Get to know your partner very well before marriage and be very clear on things such as future goals especially when it comes to where you want to both live and what type of housing, where you see yourself in 5 or 10 years - does it match up with her idea? if either of you need to finish a degree go back to school discuss the implications, make sure you both understand your budget clearly and what income is being generate and what debt is owned and expenses per month by both so there are no surprises afterward, make sure you're clear on who does what type of chores around the house and that you're not marrying a dirty lazy azz, about hobbies and interests make sure you have atleast some things in common so you can enjoy life together, turn off that tv and learn to do something new and fun together, go away on trips and have a lot of sex B)

slightly sounds like my husband hahahaha,,, ^_^

2. If you've been married a while now, how's things going? Are you happy with each other?

3. Are there things you wish you could change?

4. If you had this to do all over again, would you?

5. Any tips for a future newlywed?

My Husband respond:

That's the only advice that makes sense! Tenhas um bom dia!

If have lots of sex is the only advice that 'makes sense' to you, then that's where your priorities lies, just hope your SO feels the same way... for us it's That coupled with Many other things that keep us happy and entertained, not just the plenty of sex, just saying...

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

will try to respond without offending anyone hope it helps

1. Why do you decide a filipina sweetheart was the perfect girl for you? (aside from obvious reasons, such as beauty and family oriented)

was looking for a wife and a foriegn bride for reason i guess i should not say did not only look for philippina but other countries as well came down to three things in the end

1. i love asian food (hey i am 6'3" and over 300 lbs food is important)

2. wanted someone who could be faithful and trusted this is actually most important i am a one woman man and wanted a woman who only wanted one man

3. the final reason is even more important I LOVE HER!!!!! looks fade, intellegence will give way to memory loss, but a pure and faithful heart are always there

2. If you've been married a while now, how's things going? Are you happy with each other?

just over a year there have been some ups and downs have learned at least one new tagalog word "TAMPO" and i thought pms was bad watch out for this one :wow::bonk: but happy yes i am happy more than happy she treats me better than any woman ever has and I will give her all I am till the day I die

3. Are there things you wish you could change?

remember if you want to change them then you do not love them they are people not diapers not everything about a person is what you may find idea ( even I have major faults ) but it is these things that make us who we are and if you truely love you can overlook any faults and see only their heart

4. If you had this to do all over again, would you?

if i had it to do over

5. Any tips for a future newlywed?

you have heard patients but i would add understanding just because you know what you are saying does not mean that you are right understand where they are coming from, learn their culture and blend it with yours do not make her conform just to yours, never go to bed mad, talk to your spouse not at your spouse, and most important if you are the husband the first thing you should do when you wake up and the last thing you should do before you go to bed is say the three magic words......... I AM SORRY.......
