1. On the day of the interview, how far in to the consulate, can the USC go? I am going to accompany her to the interview, I just don't know if I am allowed into the GUZ consulate (I think it is on the 5th floor), if so, how far can I go?

2. Is there a write-up on what's going to happen on the interview day that I can read on? What's her likely procedures, etc.

3. If visa is approved, instead of have them mail the passport, can I elect to pick it up? If so where in GUZ? The consulate itself or (I heard a post office)?

Thanks!

GUZ Consular services are in a combination office and residential building. You can wait in the coffee shop on the fourth floor.

Just look at the Consulate review section for reports. No need to go really early as the interviews are not given in the order of arrival.

They'll mail the package to a post office near the Consulate. You pick it up there.

(moved from K-1 to Embassy - more related)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

You can get to the 4th floor coffee shop, that's it. It's a great place to wait for her to come out.

The IV unit is on the 5th floor.

I suggest you give her YOUR passport, with an EOR letter folded longwise inside of it - she'll hand this over to the VO on interview day (you'll get your passport back, of course).

For write ups - sure ! There's a collection HERE - click on 'embassy' in the upper right hand corner, select China-Guangzhou, read.

It is difficult to arrange for 'pick up at the Consulate' for PRC passports with visa stamps in them. It absolutely messes up the mail room operations at GUZ .

Normally, ppl use EMS (tell her to get the tracking # when she's INSIDE THE IV UNIT ) - and it can come to a special post office in Guangzhou (the address will be there inside the IV unit ) OR anywhere in Guangdong province. There's been a push to have other provinces available for EMS as well, but I don't know whick provinces today (I do know it is listed on the GUZ IV website as an announcement though )

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
