Where can I get US format passport photos to send to the embassy with my DS forms?

I am in the UK and only just realised I need them as it doesn't say anything about photos on the london embassy weblink I received.

If I send UK photos will they reject them?

I think that's more of a question for the UK regional forum - other UK filers

may give you a better idea of where to get that commercially.

If you're into DIY and you or anyone you know is familiar with photoshop or an

equivalent application, you can create multiple copies of conforming pics yourself

to be printed out on any good color printer, but you have to follow the size

specifications on the USCIS website.

The actual pic you take doesn't have to totally conform to the standard,

except for it being a head/shoulders facing forward shot and conforming

to the lighting & background color standards they want.

I just grabbed hold of someone in my office and they took my pic standing

against the white wall as a background.

The cropping to the dimensions specified can be done from a shot containing

more rather than less background.

You crop out the background and what's left is a pic conforming to their quality AND size standard.

Photo composition checklist

I did my own and printed out 6 pics that were accepted at a local chemist's for $0.25 US.

Can't beat that with a stick.

thats great thank you very much I will give that I try and save some money!

Photo standards vary from country to country as far as what you find commercially.

The US photo standard used to be "looking to the side" - this is the order that

changed that: Press Release

You have to follow the instructions very carefully, taking care that you are within

the inch specifications outlined in the instructions. Many photoshop-like programs

allow you to set the standard as metric or "backward American inches." You don't

want to futz around in metric and do calculations to convert to inches, you have

to have the software set to inches.
