Hello All,

Thanks for the informations, i went for my dv 2010 interview yesterday and was sucessful am to collect my visa in a week's time,am yet to finish my immunization,should i wait and do all that here ?

Secondly, are you also questioned at the entry point what documents are i to travel with?

Thirdly can i start processing my Social security number fron here and how long do i have to stay, i will like to come back as soon i can.

I would recommend finishing the immunisations in your country, it will be much cheaper.

You may get some questions when you enter the US, but mostly they'll want the big brown envelope with your papers that you will be given along with the visa in your passport. Make sure you have your medical papers too, they usually don;t ask to see them but can.

I am not sure about the DV lottery visa, but in other visas, your SSN and green card will be sent to your US address a few weeks after you arrive.

You can travel as soon as you have your green card, which can take anything from a few weeks to 3-4 months. You must maintain permanenet residency in the USA though, so only go to visit your country, do not stay too long.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
