Actually we need to take over security in Haiti, so in that regard, yes we need to "take over haiti".

Obama needs to think about how this situation could spiral into a blood-bath as shortages of food water could lead to God knows what, who will be held responsible?

We will.

Soon we will have thousands of Americans on the ground, the place needs to be secure for them to carry out their work. There wasn't much of a Haitian Government before and who knows a political power struggle could emerge for control.

I guess I am saying anything can happen and just as bush screwed up by not getting early control of Bagdad it would be prudent to "take control" in some sense before rather than after things go ape-sh_t.

"Security" should be the scope of our control.

Haiti is a very small country. If we want to do nation building right...this would be the kind of country to do it. And given that the people aren't teeming with revolutionaries already, the cost would be minuscule in comparison to our rebuilding of Iraq.
