Put wrong middle name (petition for a parent)

Hi Everyone,

I posted this question in the wrong discussion board here yesterday and didn't receive any answers.

I am a US citizen and I filed a I-130 petition for mom. I made a mistake in her middle name - put mine instead.

If anyone made similar mistakes in the middle name or if you heard of similar cases, please share.

I don't know what's going to happen now and how I can fix it.

Thank you so much!

Case pending? If you just filed the application, then you should be receiving a receipt in a few days (Wait 30 days from the date you filed). Upon receiving the receipt, it may list the middle names, if so. Simply call the USCIS National Customer Service Center and report a Typographical Error request on your receipt notice. The agent should put in a request and have this error corected. If it doesn't list it on the receipt notice, write a letter to the office that is processing the case address will be found on receipt notice (797-C).

Case Approved? Contact the National Visa Center, let them know of the mistake call them at 603-334-0700 (Open from 7:30 am to 12 am M-F) you'll have to enter receipt number on a touchtone telephone to speak with a operator.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Cisexpert thanks so much for you quick response. I've just sent the case. No NOA yet. I'm going to call them once I receive the notice. I just hope it can be fixed.

Your Welcome!

It will be, don't worry about it. Typographical errors are simple and common. Also if the receipt notice only lists your middle intials. Then still call USCIS and explain and the agent should be able to put in a request. Good luck on your case!
