Hello everyone!

I bet my fiancee keep you posted about my medical. I don't have enough connection to update my medical journey...Anyway, Yes! i finally have it done and i think i did well on it cause i got my vaccinations (3 shots) then bring with me my X-ray CD result and vaccination sheet that was given to me at the releasing section. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO GOD! I feel relieved upon worrying in my medical. And now, got to face the most important part of our journey....INTERVIEW. I actually read on USEM site that minors and never been married 20 years old needs to come with his/her parent/guardian.

Now, the question is...would they asked my mom any identification to prove that she's my mom? Gotta help me resourceful people please...i'll have my interview this 19th and i just want to figure out if there would be any necessary documents that my mom should bring.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS....I DID WELL IN MY MEDICAL CAUSE OF GOD'S GRACE and for all your tips! =)

Well, just to enter the USEM in Manila your Mom will need to have acceptable {Ph Government Issued} ID. You should have an original of your birth certificate with you for the interview. I can't imagine that this wouldn't be enough to establish she's really your Mom.

But, why does your Mom need to attend your interview? The requirement you're speaking about sounds more like if you are not the Primary Beneficiary.

I am not aware of having to take a parent or guardian along for a K1 interview. It is a normal for a K2 , K4, and IR2/CR2 visas.

The parental permission letter from parents will be required for the interview. Keeping Mom in a file folder is not practical and I don't think she will fit under the glass.:jest:

HMmmmmm.... This may actually be something new.... it wasn't like this when we applied 2 yrs ago.

Guys, read the top of this link. What do you think?

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html

I've never heard this from ANYONE before and it's caught us totally off guard.

Nonimmigrant Visa Application Procedures

If you intend to apply for a nonimmigrant visa to the United States, we encourage you to first visit our About Nonimmigrant Visas page.

ALL APPLICANTS, REGARDLESS OF AGE (excluding those applying for diplomatic visas), ARE REQUIRED TO APPEAR AT THE EMBASSY FOR AN INTERVIEW.

Minor (unmarried 20 years old and below) nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to appear with at least one parent for the interview. If the minor is an orphan or if both parents are outside of the Philippines, then a legal guardian must be present during the interview.

I don't think the mom will be allowed to join you on this type of interview. You have to show that you are ready for a big commitment and mature enough to get married and start a family. Good luck and don't worry too much, it's not really difficult just be prepared… have your documents ready, complete and organized. The link, I think it refers to young children beneficiaries petitioned by the parents who need assistance at the Embassy for the paperwork and other stuff and of course to look after them.

I agree with I-10 West. The first time I read the USEM rule, it sounded like anyone under 21 was required to bring a parent to the interview. Since I have never heard of this rule applying to a K1 petition, I read the rule again. Now that I have read the rule again, I believe that the USEM is talking about children who are being petitioned by a parent.

Also, why would the USEM have a rule for K1 beneficiaries regarding written consent or written advisory if they also required the parent to attend the interview? It does not make sense.

In any case, the OP will still need to have either their parent's written consent or their written advisory in order to pass the K1 interview.

I hope some of our VJ members will chime in with their experience.

If you want accurate information why haven't you called the visa unit at the USEM?

All we can do here is give you information based on our experience and interpretation. VJ members do not make the rules for the Embassy and Department of State. Only dependent children in the past have been required to have a parent or guardian present. If this is a new rule only the USEM will know for sure. If you call the [mis]information line then you will have to decide if the information given is correct.

Straightforward and to the point. Not trying to be harsh

If you look at the immigrant visa section they include K-visas there. I suspect even though the K-1 is a nonimmigrant visa it is being treated like an immigrant visa. http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

huh! tough reply huh! I'm just asking people...im not forcing u to answer me for THOSE who don't know. I did make my question clear... whew! i'd better quit asking for those who don't know as well.

I/m sorry you feel that way. Let me try to explain it another way. This page on the USEM website is new and not written clearly.

Would you please take the time to call the Embassy to get an accurate answer so everyone will know?
