*faints* I love love love these. I got an orange hoodie abaya when I was in egypt last time, but the zipper is on it's last legs. I'm so getting one of these for eid to rock with my hot pink shayla. Now, if only I can convince my husband to get the leisure thobe, then we'd match *manical laughter*

Man, these are all so cute. I have plenty of the tradition jilbab/abayas, but I definately could go for something a bit more modern and without all the flowery embroidery.

And I can't get a link to the picture, but the pink polo shirt one is adorable as well.

Esalaamu Aleikum

Thanks again Rahma for your ever so cool posts...Jazak Allah Kheiran

I rather liked the HijabShoppe website you posted. Very hip hijebs there...and got some great ideas on how to wear hijeb differently. The sporty hijeb isnt my cup of tea, looks more like an alien would wear those...but they do seem practical LoL...

But I do have to complain that most of these websites are based in Pakistan or the UK. Great for who lives there...but I mean for girls like me who actually like to try on what they buy...its kinda a drag to buy from the Net or mail order. Even where I live, 500,000 arab Muslims...and well over 10 islamic clothing shoppes...the selection will make you sick. All they have is mostly flowery abayas and black jilbebs. And the prices they ask for wooooa?!!! :hehe: $130-190 for one jilbeb? And hijebs starting from $10 ? Hmm...yea if you like buy one! O man no wonder I have so outfits without a hijeb to match and hijebs with no outfits to wear them with.... :(

So it still girls we need to all know how to sew or stock on everytime we hit the ME/NA....

O ok I am done complaining... :P

Well I know how to sew but finding a pattern here in the U.S. is impossible. My brother in law is a taylor, and promised to send me a pattern so I can sew one before my next trip there in 3 weeks. He never did, so again, no jelaba for me. The ones I see in Morocco look so heavy and hot, and I don't care much for the colors. And when I do find one I like the price nearly floors me.

Why are they all so expensive?

These aren't too expensive, about $40 after the exchange rate. I'm not sure how much shipping is, but I know simply islam sends you free gifts to compensate for the shipping rate.

A lot of the jelbab and abayas for sale here in the US are more expensive then they are over there is because of the large costs associated with importing stuff. But I do agree, most of the stores around here pump up the price to $80, which seems a bit excessive. there is a new shop that just opened and has sales that get down to about $30 each.

I've found that this directory does a pretty good job of listing a lot of the modest clothes resources on the net, so you can find a store based in the US and shop around for price.
