Hey there everyone,

My k1 visa petition is currently being processed but that doesnt give me enough peace as I know what I have to expect in the future and be smart enough to prepare for it now. VJ forums are very informative and by reading everyone's experience I gain more information on how to uplift my case. But in my petition there is a slight issue.....

In VJ forums, I came across a petitioner whose beneficiary was denied at the interview because the beneficiary nor the peitioner met each others parents. In my case, My Fiance didn't meet my parents but have talked to them ever since they accepted him for over 6 months now. They have bought stuffs for him and love him with all their heart. They aren't able to make this trip as travel tickets are too expensive and Hotel stay and other financial spending are not very affordable. On the other hand, My fiance's father passed away long time back but his mother is his only guardian now. She knows about this relationship but doesnt accept us. (My Fiance is Muslim and I am a Christian).

I talked to my Parents about this issue and they are ready to write letters to the consulate addressing this issue to facilitate the interview. But I am still worried about my fiance's mother as we don't intend to lie to the consular officer that she accepts.

What should I do to better my stand on this issue?

Thank you very much in advance or responding.

Hi,

I honestly don't think that this would happen. Many people have done the visa process without meeting parents etc.

I asked my lawyer if it was a problem that i have not yet met my fiance's family in America & her reply was that it was no problem. Provided you have proof of the relationship with your fiance.

Good luck

I also felt the same way as you did but judging from the reviews of the interviews of many people, I see the consulate is giving silly reasons for denial and it is making me considerate. Our relationship is 3 years old so far and I met my fiance in person 4 times each for a month and we fought hard to win my parent's heart. I dont want me & my fiance to walk away from the interview with these silly reasons. Most absurd remark I found so far was eventhough the couples have all the documents intact to prove they are bonafide, the consulars just refuse to see it and give them denial.

Therefore, if there is anything that can be done (eventhough these issues dont come to all the petitioners) to make this issue better or make my case better I would be really greatful.

Thank you

As that is not a requirement to be issued a K1 visa, I doubt that was listed as the true reason for the visa denial. In many cases it is almost impossible for one of both to meet the other families before receiveing the K1 visa. I was able to meet my Fiancée family, as i did come over to her country 4 times before the interview, but my Fiancee would have most likely not have been allowed to enter the US on a tourist visa, as she is from a third world country, and if she did try to apply, and listed the reason was to meet her fiance parents, the CO would have fell on the floor laughing, before he stood back up and denided the visitors visa request.

The reason would be "not clearly eligible".

In some cultures that out a high value on such things as meeting parents and where such things as Christian/Muslim marraiges are rare these can be red flags. something perfectly normal in UK or Canada could be a reason for denial in United Arab Emirates. You need to convince the consulate your relationship is genuine and NOT for the primary purpose of immigration benefits, they do not need a reason to deny, they need a reason to approve.

I would study the results of that specific consulate to the exclusion of others and be sure you are properly prepared for the interview based on others experiences. MENA consulates tend to be very difficult to deal with.

I know that Christian Muslim marriages are rare and this issue can cause a red flag and thats the prime reason why i dont want it to be just taken for granted. From my side, I have tons of letter of support saying that my entire family supports it. Individual letters of parents, Cousins and other family members can be obtained by me. But on my fiance's side this is not possible as none are even willing to acknowledge it. But he is a 22 year old adult and doesnt need anyones permission to marry me and families will always come around in the future.

I would very much like to hear more suggestions from you guys.

thank you very much for respondig.
