We are currently trying to prepare all the forms for AOS and have a couple of questions:

- What is an A number? (I have a k1 visa, will I have an A number and if so where is it?)

- Should I submit my forms before getting my SSN?

- Is the I-94 number given upon arrival in USA? (the green form you fill out on the plane?)

- Date of last arrival? (is this when I enter on the K1 visa or the last time I was in the US on the visa waiver?)

- What is my nonimmigrant visa number? (where do i find it?)

Also a quick question regarding applying for my SSN. What is the best way of doing this? I fly on Saturday and get married on Wednesday, Should I apply before I get married so my name is the same as on the K1 visa or afterwords with my new surname?

thanks very much!

It can be found in your visa under "Annotation," just below your fiance's name, in your NOA2 within the box "Beneficiary" and even at the back of your I-94 if the IO wrote it there.

The SSN is not necessary for the AOS. If you still have at least 14 days before your I-94 expires, you may apply for an SSN.

- Is the I-94 number given upon arrival in USA? (the green form you fill out on the plane?)

I can't remember if the rest of it was green but yes, I filled out the I-94 on the plane and gave it to the Immigration Officer at the POE. He detached the rest of it and stapled the other part (it's white) in my passport.

- Date of last arrival? (is this when I enter on the K1 visa or the last time I was in the US on the visa waiver?)

Use the K1 entry stamp date.

- What is my nonimmigrant visa number? (where do i find it?)

Your visa number is in your visa page. I am from the Philippines. My visa number is in red color and has eight digits.

Also a quick question regarding applying for my SSN. What is the best way of doing this? I fly on Saturday and get married on Wednesday, Should I apply before I get married so my name is the same as on the K1 visa or afterwords with my new surname?

I suggest that you just apply for an SSN with your present name and change the SS card entry afterwards.
