i wanna ask for help about booking a flight from mnl to us...

1. which is better booking w/ a travel agent or online? philippines or us?

2. if booking online, is it okay if the passenger is not the cardholder?

sabi kasi ng husband ko di daw legal mag-book ng flight sa US for my trip...it should be purchased dw here in the philippines...i tried online from one website kaya lang sabi dapat daw US/CANADA issued credit card lang.

any suggestions po? thank you.

try mo Northwest Airlines i got here using US ARMY's TRAVEL AGENCY (sila nagbayad ng ticket ko) and i didnt had any problems with it @ NAIA

I bought my Wife's ticket from northwest... but I did call northwest booking agent instead of online.. she had no problems with any flights! Good luck!

1. Mas mura kapag TRAVEL AGENCY kesa direct ka magpapa book sa airline. Try online sites like Expedia, they usually have good deals.

2. Kahit sino pwede bumili ng airline ticket mo basta sa iyo nakapangalan ang ticket.

How can it be illegal? It can be done as long as the passenger's name is on the ticket. My hubby bought my one-way ticket online in the US. He just sent the e-ticket to my email. Also, he copied his ID and credit card on a piece of paper and signed it. Some airlines require copies of the purchaser's ID and credit card. At the airport, they didn't even ask for it.

I used expedia.com to purchase tickets for Anna & Gabby just 16 hrs prior to their flight. We had no problems at all.

It is not illegal to buy tickets in the US for your flight. Check vayama.com, that is where my husband bought my tickets before.

It is NOT illegal - my husband bought my ticket (Northwest Airlines) online at Expedia.com using his U.S. credit card and there were no problems - he just filled in the passenger name with my name exactly as it appears on my passport (which was still in my maiden name since we weren't married yet at that time). I printed out the e-ticket and had no problems getting my boarding pass when I checked in at the airport.

I have read before there is a law that requires immagrants from phillipines to have a ticket issued from the Philippines. Most tickets are e~tickets these days anyway, so there typically is no problem, the airline is generating the boarding pass and receipt for the ticket in the Philippines. If the USC purchased a paper ticket issued in the US and mailed it to the Phils there may be an issue but noone does that anymore anyway.

thanks blairwhich, its really cheaper booking through a travel agency...so far the price quote i got was $660 tax inclusive already. a little cheaper than expedia...

my husband tried booking through a travel agent in the US and they refused. youre right daiana, i guess the rule doesnt apply to online booking/e-ticketing.

In conclusion, We got the best deal at Expedia, shortest travel time and still cheap. i made it here in the US safe.
