Nooo Now mother in-law wants to apply for tourist VISA the same day as my IR1 interview!!!

The title said it all. She wants to apply the same day because we are going to be inside the embassy and she does not want to go alone. She had a visa long time ago but it expired and she didn't renew it.

So Should I worry? Could it affect my case ?

I wouldn't expect her application to impact your case but your immigrating to the USA may cause her visa to be denied due to suspected immigrant intent on her part. You'll be dealing with separate units within the Consular department.

I think it is quite natural for a mother to want to travel with or soon after her child as they move to a new place. Heck, my mother accompanies my sister (to her chagrin) every time she goes back to college at the end of the summer.

Nik's whole family came for the wedding, and were here for 2 weeks exploring his new state and what I lightly call the "Home Inspection" (I cleaned for hours and then hired a cleaning lady, you betchya!!)
