Hi Jonswifey~ I know it can be a little confusing to look at the samples because I don't think they are for the I-130/CR1 visa.

Basically you can follow the outline of the cover letter but put your own information in there and list all the forms you are submitting.

So put your intentions on the introductory line..ie..I am submitting an I-130 application for my husband/wife....

List all forms/passport photos/copy of birth certificate/passport of USC..

Any evidence of bona fide marriage..

You just need to include all pages of EACH G-325A form (meaning both Petitioners and Beneficary). Don't forget to have ORIGINAL signatures on all 4 copies.

I am sure there is more stuff to put in there, just follow the guidelines they really do help!!

Good luck with your journey and Welcome to VJ!!

Hi! There's a cover letter go-by in "Example Forms" above. Just tweak it to match what you're applying for.

Also, you only need one copy of the G-325A now. The new version is just one page. I was the guinea pig for the one copy and it worked. Good luck!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm one who sent in a 7 lb fedex box with everything, including binders with list of exhibits. ha! I did a cool photo book at a camera store, and USCIS sent it back to me the first day without looking at it. Don't bother doing that. I didn't even use it for the interview because my hubby had his interview a day early (and we left all the stuff at the hotel room) so that )#*$)* book never got used!

I'm a believer in sending a lot of stuff. You have nothing to lose-only your spouse will get a huge folder at the interview though! We got thru this in less than four months from NOA1 date to the visa interview, so I think it helped. Send a variety of photos throughout your entire relationship, copies of emails (maybe a few each month), and copies of the rental agreement, your military dependent ID, etc...if your hubby has you as his beneficary for any military benefits (i.e. life insurance, 401K, retirement, IRAs, etc...) add that paperwork too. I also included an affidavit from my daughter, copies of greeting cards (we don't send many of those actually), receipts/plane tickets from all trips to see each other, and I even copies of our wedding ring receipts. Let's just say there's nothing I didn't send in from the start!

Others will say don't send much. Just check out timelines and you'll figure it out!!!!

Yes, there is only one page to the G325... Just copy the cover letter and substitute what info you have. You can title the stuff just as you described it to us (lease letter, photographs, copy military dependent ID etc...)

I am one of those that do not believe in sending in tons of proof as the case is not adjucated at USCIS, only the eligibility is checked. I also think that if you send in TONS of information, there is more likelyhood that things get confused and it takes longer to process the application since each page will get scanned and input into the system... My recommendation is to send the copy of the lease, copy of Military dep ID, print out photos on regular paper and put about 4 to a page and not more than 2-3 pages (like 8 - 12 photos and include some with family and in different locations) with captions (photos printed on regular paper are easier for them to review and for you to caption) and send copies of plane tickets to your SO's country and a copy of hotel or whatever showing that you visited each other and if you want, include any joint accounts or insurance documents or if you dont have that, no worries, you can also submit maybe 10 pages of chat logs from different dates or phone records from a few months...

Hi Christeen!!!!! Did you get my post about how much we loved the Modgliani (I'm pretty sure I just ruined the name)?

Jons wifey, either way you're probably fine. I sent in probably more than anyone and went thru this very fast. Others send in nothing and have no problems. I looked at this through my "work eyes" and that was just my personality-do exhibits and binders like I do at work! It definitely didn't slow anything down for us (NOA2 was 8/19 and visa given 12/14). Christeen has awesome advice on VJ though!!!!! She helped me a lot (well, except for the don't send everything but the kitchen sink advice. ha!). You'll be fine-Germany is not a high-risk country.

My hubby didn't have fun traveling with the huge envelope though (all the stuff I sent that was given to him at the interview)!!!!!

Most here have not sent those unless they come from a high fraud country or have NO evidence of the relationship... My advice is that it will not be necessary. I never did any as most people here did not. It is secondary evidence anyway. They just want proof of a bonifide relationship and a lease together, plane tickets, Mil Id's etc.. should suffice, especially since you are coming from a VWP country not known for visa fraud.

I am sooo glad you liked it... GREAT views and nice homey atmosphere there... I am thinking of taking my hubby to see Washington DC, now that he is a resident and all I figure he should see DC... I love all the museums there!!! (but not all the Art museums, I have a short attention span and get tired of looking at pictures for hours on end! A bit of it OK, but after a while I'm like OK... enough)

I agree. They probably laughed at my daughter's affidavit!

Christeen-DC is a great idea! Everyone should go there! I'm going to take my hubby there too-hopefully I'll get a work trip there, or else we'll stay with some friends. I love DC so much!!!!! Hubby moves here on March 3rd!!!!
