I am a Canadian married to a US citizen for many years and have lived and travelled to many countries. For the past 3+ years we have lived in India as my husband was posted there by his American employer. Now my kids are living with relatives and attending school in Canada. I am also now visiting temporarily in Canada and my husband is still overseas. I have my green card. My question is -- can I apply for my naturalization from here in Canada (including the biometrics) and go to the US for the interview and oath taking and then return to India to join my husband? What is the best and fastest way to do this? Does Canada come under the "abroad" category? Thank you for your help!

Off the top of my hat, you most likely do not fulfill the residency requirement for the citizenship application. Frankly, with the 3 year residency in India, you need to seriously evaluate if you actually still hold a valid green card since the longest permissible residency abroad with a reentry permit is 2 years.

To answer your question, you cannot process your citizenship application in Canada. That is not to say that you cannot travel to your appointments in the US, but for the purposes of your N400 application, you need to receive your mail in the US.
