Hi,

I'm going to be sending my fiancée some money via XE.com, but we're a little confused by XE's requirements for my fiancée's bank details.

While in the UK we have sort codes and physical addresses for the individual bank branches with which we have our accounts, it appears that in the US this is not so. The routing number for my fiancée's account is that of the primary bank headquarters, in a completely different state, and there are numerous physical addresses for the bank, depending on which bit of official paperwork one looks at. I thus have no idea what to put for the "bank address" when setting up a recipient's account in XE.

Another issue is that I have appear to have two different account numbers and two different routing numbers for my fiancée's bank account - one from the official paperwork, the other from her cheques. Which one do I use for wire transfer via XE.com?

Thanks!

Your fiancee should be able to get some sort of international code from their bank that can be used for you to send money. It's something like the BACS code (that's not the acronym though) and can be used by anyone to send money internationally. I've used this to send to other countries directly through my bank but I would think that XE would have a similar process. Alternatively, have they considered setting up a foreign currency account so that they could receive money directly into that account from your bank?

I hope that this helps.

Hi,

I've been using XE for the past two years, I love it. For my US bank I actually just put my local branch addy (you can usually find it on the banks 'find locations' website). XE had no problems w/ that.

To make sure its free, you should use ACH/EFT for the US bank, and Wire for the UK bank, but provide them with BACS info for the UK bank instead of traditional int'l wire information, and XE will transfer it for free.

Cheers
