Hi guy,

My fiance is just about ready to send off the I-129f, but she might be moving from Oh to Mi to live with her mom. At the moment her current address on the I-129f and G-325A is the Oh one, but might change if she does move to Mi. She isn't sure whether she will move or not, might be in a couple months time. Also the address where we will be living when i move over there from England will change too.

Sooo....... does she send it off now with her present address on everything?

Or possibly wait and so lengthen the time it ill take for me to move over there for us to get married, till she knows where she will be living while they process our application?

If she sends everything off now, then in say a month or even a couple weeks, move to Mi, can she change the details of her present and our future address when i move there? I'm not sure if there is a way of doing this, maybe another form to fill out or phone number to call?

Thanks for any help!

Phil

Actually, probably the best thing to do would be for her to put her PERMANENT address. A place where she can always get mail (such as her parent's house). That way, regardless of where or if she moves, she will get the mail and won't need to worry about changing things and confusing USCIS.

This is what I am doing. I will have lived at 3 different addresses by the time our petition is (hopefully) approved. So I just put my parent's address and will have them do mailbox watch for me. :)

However, if you feel more comfortable with it being her actual residence, there is a process for changing your address in the midst of the process, I just don't have a clue what it is.

Anyone else have any insight?

I cant remember what it is, but there is a change of address form for this. When I talked to the Senators office about my case, he told me. My change was the benificary instead of the petitioner so I didn't need to use it.

Even if you use it, I would call the offices as you progress to make sure they use the right one (since it is a separate form than the app. It is possible it will be overlooked unless you call attention to it as the file moves along).

BTW: I am in Ohio also. The Senators office that told me that was Dewines.

But what happens if she puts her current address, moves to another one and gets mail in the prior address? She might miss the NOA1 in her mail. I guess the safe thing to do would be use a permanent address, like you said and did.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Currently she is living with her dad and grandma in Oh. So if she kept that address as her current address they could still mail anything to her if she did move to her moms in Mi.

The only other thing would be the address where i will be living once i move over (Question# 14 in the I-129f). Currently it is her Oh address. If she does move and sends the forms off before she moves, will this matter that we will not be living in Oh?

I mean if her current address is just used as a point to mail to, what would the future address where we will be living be used for? Maybe as a point of mailing future forms like the work forms and change of status and stuff? Or is it more serious like for proof of having somewhere to live and they send people round to check..... ok i'm exaggerating there but you get what i mean, like serious stuff.

No they will not send people around looking. Change of addresses are not uncommon and it was explained to me that you will re-verify that during the interview/embassy. Honestly, I think you are overreacting. If she currently lives at a residence that will have someone there to forward the mail IN CASE the address change dont happen (and again there is a form). I would use the one that is currently accurate. It's just my guess but you can have her call USCIS since that is where you supposedly can call to change your address (it is a prompt on there), or schedule an appointment using infopass at their site. I think the personal appointment is a better option.

If she is in columbus, OH their is an office downtown she can go to after using infopass.

She needs to use the address that she can continually receive mail at during the process.

The address you eventually live at can be corrected on the forms given to you prior to the interview if you have it by then. If not then you would use old address and change it via address change form available at the USCIS site.

Both my Fiancee and I have changed physical addresses since start of process. Mailing addresses were left the same as we both can still receive mail there. We will change everything at time of interview to avoid confusion and possible mis routed mail.

Phil,

And I-129f Q14 is not critical - 'to be determined' sounds appropriate at this point.
