this may be a stupid and nitpicky question, but am trying to avoid any silly RFE's down the line. i'm new to VJ and getting ready to submit the IR-1/CR-1 petition for my wife (who's currently in pakistan):

while in pakistan during the holidays i downloaded and completed the G325-A form and asked my wife to sign 4 copies. The form gives the option of typing the information directly in Adobe Acrobat which is how we completed it.

My handwriting is terrible and this may be more legible for the officers handling my forms, but I'm worried that since my wife's signatures are in black ink USCIS may think the forms are photocopied and delay the processing....

do most people here fill in these forms requiring signatures by hand? (note to myself is to use blue ink next time!). i could always ask my wife to send me new copies of the completed forms if consensus here is to do it by hand...

thanks!!

Don't worry - USCIS is well aware of these new fangled things called "black ink pens"..

You can tell if it's a copy or real. (or is that memorex?)

:D

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

There are actually some documents that specify black ink only or typing, and like you I always type the details on the computer. I write in black ink only when something won't fit in the box, but I always sign in blue.

I would hope that the CO's realise it's a real signature because a photocopied signature looks different to a real one and they can also look on the other side of the page and if it's indented you obviously pressed down to sign it. I'm sure they're trained to spot real vs photocopied so I don't think it would be an issue.

The main reason for me signing in blue is if it's in black when I'm sorting through the paperwork I grab photocopies thinking they're originals 'cause I'm used to seeing "blue" as original. It just makes my life easier, but I would think CO's are used to it.

Legibility is the key. We submitted all of our forms typed due to my poor penmanship  (with the exception of anything that would not fit in the space provided.) I did sign all of the forms with black ink and while I worried throughout that it would be a problem all was fine. Good luck.
