EAD timeline

We had our BIOMETRICS for AOS process on 12/22/09. On 1/4/10 we received the I-131. Is there also a seperate approval letter that follows the BIOMETRICS before any documents arrive? And when should we expect the EAD to arrive? Is there an approval letter before the EAD is mailed?

The other documents should be on their way.

No approval letter - you will just get it.

Hey Guitarlo,

Are you registered online on USCIS.gov for e-mail alerts? Typically they send e-mail alerts once the EAD is approved. You could also see this by checking your case status online. My EAD card was ordered on 1/6, then it was ordered again on 1/9, then today I got an e-mail saying the approval notice is in the mail.

I though I was signed up because during the I-129 days I got notices via email? Maybe those came from the Manila Embassy? I will sign up again on the USCIS site.

I signed up for the email alerts - thanks for the suggestion. Here's what I found today -

Post-Decision Activity

On January 11, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I guess the next step is to go and get the Social Security number. Does anyone know what the timeline is for getting the SS?

Yay! Guitarlo it should be here super soon then. Mine said mailed on January 12th... But it showed up today! already! It was post marked the 11th though... Fingers crossed yours is running behind too and shows up today or tomorrow

Yes I do... But i went to social security this afternoon as I needed to change my name. They are sending me a new card and told me new cards take 2 weeks. Good Luck
