hi vj members.

im wondering do i need my passport for AOS/I-485? I got here in USA thru F1. my passport will expire next month- FEB but my visa expire on sept 2011 and im getting married by march. is it necessary to renew my passport ASAP? or should i wait till i get married so i can at least change my lastname? will it affect my F1 if i change my lastname?

Yes, you need your passport. Whether it's expired or not doesn't matter for AOS purposes. Many embassies won't even issue a new passport without a green card, btw.

I'm saying you're all good even if your visa or I-485 is expired. They want to see your passport for identification purposes and to check when you entered the US.
