yeah, yeah, I know, I know... yet another Express envelope question but I have a real, honest question!!!

So, I'm to buy an Express envelope from Canada Post in what size again? And am I just paying for the envelope or am I actually paying for the postage that it w ill require to have everything sent to me?

In purchasing Xpresspost mailers at Canada Post, please note the following:

Canada post offers 3 sizes of Expresspost prepaid mailers:

Standard - (26 cm x 15.2 cm) Letter - (31.8 cm x 24.1 cm) Pack - (39.4 cm x 30.5 cm)

You need the biggest one, you must provide 1 mailer for every 4 visas being issued.

• 394 x 305 mm size (39.4 x 30.5 cm or 15.51 x 12.01 inches)

As lgg said, they don't state it anymore, it is posted in the consulate, so for those that don't know I guess it is a big surprise on the day

• The mailer should be the 314 mm x 394 mm size (12 inches by 15 inches).

• For return addresses in Quebec and Ontario, you may use a “Regional” Xpresspost mailer. All other addresses require a “National” Xpresspost mailer.

• The Xpresspost envelope(s) must be prepaid. The price will vary according to the mailing destination. Be sure to mention your return address to Canada Post staff.

• Address the envelope(s) to an address inside Canada. We cannot send completed visas to addresses outside Canada, including the United States. You must use the visa to enter the United States from outside of the United States.

• Mark the mailing label “signature required” to ensure that someone at the destination address has to sign for the envelope. This will ensure that your passport and visa, which are valuable documents, will not be left unattended.

Yep, we get one but it does NOT mention this envelope at all...

Just FYI -- the current largest "National Prepaid Xpresspost" envelope is actually slightly smaller than what they used to be. They're now 390mm X 295mm. I know it still shows the old dimensions on the website, but the cost etc. was the same for this slightly smaller Xpresspost envelope.

Don't forget to PURCHASE a "signature on delivery" label for an extra $1.50 if you don't want to risk the envelope getting crammed into your mailbox.

Altogether, this envelope is over $26.00 after tax.

Filing DCF in Toronto, instruction on the consulate website says to include with the I-130 a 'Prepaid, self addressed Canada Post Express mailer' - but no instruction as to the size. What size should it be, and what is it for?? With DCF, they should call me for a meeting/interview to show all the original documents, which I presume I will get back at that time. And they won't have my passport to send back. Unless I have to leave it with them for some reason.

Any suggestions?

They use this envelope to send all of your materials back to you, along with other documentation for the border.

If that's the case, then I'm thoroughly confused.

I sent photocopies of all the I-130 supporting documents (birth certs, etc.), with the next step supposedly being a call/email from the consulate to go in in person - where I present all the original documents.

I sent my petition in the 'document' size mailer (middle size), definitely couldn't have fit the huge one inside that one.

Yeah, I've been searching for Canadian DCF info/threads, but it's pretty scarce. If I do have questions though, would I be better posting them in the Canadian forum or the DCF forum?

I (un)fortunately already sent my I-130 off today, and included the smaller size envelope (the post office lady said that's normally the size they use to send passports back, and I - brain-frazzled specimen I am right now - didn't realize that I wasn't actually *sending* my passport... Hopefully I can work this out once the consulate contacts me about going in.
