do we have to wait in person till end of the day to get the visa on the interview date?

Our interview date is on Friday.So I was wondering if we have to wait around couple of more hours untill at the end of the day incase they would give the visa the same day.....

we wouldn't be able to wait till Monday for sure...

99% of the time they MAIL it out in the envelope YOU provide them, BUT some have been successful in getting it the same day or the next. At 1 time it was same day pick up, but now they (mtl) have switched to mailing them out! But it never hurts to ask. have a sob story at the ready,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Why not ask? You lose nothing by asking! You might not get it by Friday afternoon but there is a slim chance that you might get it on Monday.

I wish I had asked to get the visa. I interviewed on a Friday too and was leaving for home on Sunday. I was willing to stay another night and take another bus home, but decided against it and did not ask if it were possible to wait for it on Monday. Then I found out that another person on VJ asked and got it by Monday afternoon!

Of course, I eventually received my visa... but not without Canada Post almost losing it, not to mention lots and lots of tears, new permanent wrinkle lines and prolly 10 years off my life...

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Check cashed: Red said yes when asked

Biometrics: January 25, 2012

As darkchilde mentioned, why not ask? You have nothing to lose. There have been a few that got it the same day, but very VERY few. You'd probably have to have a compelling reason to get it that day. Say if you're planning on leaving for the U.S. that weekend, and have tickets in hand to prove you're leaving, and pretending that you didn't know that you couldn't have it that day? lol Good luck with that one, as you'll be bringing an Xpresspost envelope, which would only prove you know that you can't get it that day...*sigh*

Again, ask...you never know!

Yah, I agree - I don't think lying or even lying by omission is ever a good idea. I think if you're honest and up front things usually end up going in your favor anyway.
