We've gotten NOA2 and have the medical appointment ahead in London, and are compiling material for Packet 3.

I'm wondering what I should have my fiance do medical-wise before the appointment. The guides say "Part of this interview will require that previous vaccinations are documented and potentially additional required vaccinations performed." Does that mean my fiance should get some sort or record from his GP? Can he save any money if he gets additional vaccinations before the London medical? I know some jabs have two courses that need to be done at separate times, and I'd hate to be turned away at the medical exam stage...

Congrats on getting your NOA2! :)

I would advise your fiance to check this website and make note of what vaccinations are needed, then make an appointment to see your local GP or Nurse to have them done before your Medical exam in London. Make sure you get them to print your records of having them done :)

Good luck :star:

Thanks for the link, Claire and Tony. On the right of that page it says "The vaccinations may also be performed by the Embassy's physician on the day of your medical examination if you so wish." When you click it, it gives a list of prices for the vaccines! These appear to be added costs, on top of the already exorbitant £180 fee for the medical. If that's the case, perhaps my fiance's GP prices might be cheaper for these.

...However (sorry, this forum doesn't let me edit a post anymore, because I don't have "permission(?)," according to your list's yeses and nos, the only shots required for an adult under 65 are:

1. Td/Tdap

2. MMR

3. Influenza

Can someone verify that these are the only three shots required?

Yes its really worth getting them done by your local GP, it will save you money for sure. The vaccinations are added costs on top of the Medical fee, so its worth doing them now. Plus the medical fee has gone up to £190 for Adults, £95 for children.

Also, although you are allowed to get the visa without the vaccinations, please get them done before the medical. If not, you have to get them done before you adjust status in the US, and I can tell you we went that way, and it was a real PAIN in the you-know-where!!!!

Only Tdap and MMR for a male under 50 -- influenza is for 50+ people. If you have had chicken pox in the past, your verbal confirmation of this will exclude you from the varicella requirement. If you didn't have chicken pox, you will need to have the varicella vaccine which is NOT available in the UK. I assume that this would then need to be completed in the US as part of AOS. Hopefully someone here can iron that out.

My husband got the Tdap and MMR at his GP's for free before the medical. He had actually already had measles and mumps as a kid, but since his vaccination records were lost in the mists of time somewhere in South Yorkshire in the early 1980s, he had to have the jabs again. :( Much cheaper to get it done before the medical.

PS -- for about 4 months in 2007 the medical inexplicably went up to 200 quid -- we were amongst the unlucky souls to get caught up in that brief change. ;)

Hello Everyone,

My finace has his interview Feb 7th, 2010 and he just finished his medical exam. There are 3 vaccines that he still needs to get additional doses for. Will this pose and issue for his interview. He cannot not take the additional vaccines until Feb 9th.

The vaccine results are as follows: Vaccine History Incomplete: Applicant May be eligble for Blanket waiver because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate.

Should I be worried, or is this ok?

Thank you,

Cherrine

The issue depends on the consulate; why don't you post this question in the Middle-East forum? Good luck!

In general, since K1s (if you are applying for a fiance visa) are not required to have the vaccines done prior to moving to the U.S.

Naturalization

9/9: Mailed N-400 package off

9/11: Arrived at Dallas, TX

9/17: NOA

9/19: Check cashed

9/23: Received NOA

10/7: Text from USCIS on status update: Biometrics in the mail

10/9: Received Biometrics letter

10/29: Biometrics

10/31: In-line

2/16: Text from USCIS that Baltimore has scheduled an interview...finally!!

2/24: Interview letter received

3/24: Naturalization interview

I got my practice nurse to write a letter saying I had this vacation on such and such a date and that she had given me the MMR on the same day. She also arranged a blood test to say that I had had the chicken pox.

The waiver you see means that the vaccination requirement to show admissibility to the US can be waived. However, this cannot be waived for AOS. Be sure that he gets the documentation showing that he has completed the series, and then get it transcribed by a civil surgeon to include in your AOS packet. I haven't heard of different embassies doing this differently, but you may want to read some reviews for your consulate just to be sure...

I got most of the vaccinations that I think that I need when I was a child in NZ so who knows if there are any records left floating around. Might get my Mum to check for me and get any records that she can the next time they go back. However, I think, from reading the chart, that the only one that I have to have is tetanus booster. My local GP said they'd do it for free if I was travelling but there's no longer a requirement to have it updated every 10 years. Brilliant! I'm going to have it done next month in anticipation of actually receiving an NO2 sometime in March and then all that will be out of the way and no need to worry about it.
