My fiancee and I are waiting for the NOA2 but want the process to move faster once we get it. What can we do while we're waiting?

There are forms and such my fiancee will need to fill out once she gets her packet from the consulate but is there anything we can do beforehand to make sure we can get an interview soon?

I know I'll have to do the I-13..something...the affadavit of support. But what else can we do?

Thanks!

the I-134 will take some time (well sometimes) so get that started. You'll need a letter from your employer, letters from your bank(s), tax statements etc. Getting that stuff mailed can take a little time, better than waiting.

You can get started on the paperwork she needs for P3 now, here: http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-niv-k.html it has document lists etc and also how to go about booking an appointment, which it looks like SHE will do once she has all the documents in that list ready to go... so if you get start now and have it all together then you should be able to book your appointment almost as soon as she gets her stuff.

Hope that helps :)

I wouldn't do the I-134 yet, I would wait until you get the 2nd notice, then do that, you should be able to get your boss to sign a letter within a couple of days and then have all your other documents ready for her and use express mail or fed ex or some fast way and get it to her.

Now is the time to learn the process so you are prepared for next steps. The best way to do so is to study the guides here and the form instructions for the upcoming forms. Then, ask remaining questions.

What do these letters from the bank/employer need to include? As a Federal Employee, I receive SF-50s when there is an action to my file. Currently I have 18 SF-50s over the past 3 years. It includes my SSN, DOB, location of where I work, pay, job title, service date, and it's electronically signed by HR at OPM. Has anyone used an SF-50 for the I134?

While waiting for NOA2, I got the paperwork together for the interview. My NOA2 took so long that I ended up getting updated copies of a couple of things, but it was very easy as I was already familiar with exactly what to do.

After I got all the papers necessary for the interview, I STILL had plenty of time before NOA2, so I moved on to filling out AOS paperwork. Some of the forms were updated by the time we got close to filling for AOS, but it was easy to just copy the information over.

After I got the AOS paperwork filled out, I continued to wait for NOA2. So then I started making a list of all the places to take my then-fiance/now-husband when he got here.

Also while waiting, I visited him 4 more times, including a visit where my family went to hang out with his family. That gave me the opportunity to (see him and to) have him sign forms for the interview.

I haven't heard anything like that, but I haven't heard much of anything. How much longer have you heard it takes?

It would make sense for those that work with Department of State, DHS, or other 3 letter acronyms, especially those that create foreign policy. It wouldn't look proper for those people to have a spouse with close ties to a foreign Gov. So they may need to make sure that the spouse does not have a relationship with anyone who works for a foreign Gov. But that decision should be the responsibility of the agency that employs them. So the extra time may be to allow the employer to be notified and provide a response.

I heard 3-4 months. I work for a 3 letter acronym but we don't have a hand in foreign policy:) I was hoping that maybe USCIS would just take a look at the investigation that was done through OPM and call it a day..but I'm thinking that was wishful thinking! omg, I pray I don't have to wait for one agency to contact another and wait for a reply:( Maybe this would be a little easier if he could get a visa to visit the US..instead of me having to make the trip each time. Ok enough of the pity party:) Good luck with the process:)

Has the beneficiary gathered documents that will be required by the Consulate? You may start with the ones that don't have a validity period like birth certificate, etc.

May the NOA2 make its way to you very soon.

Hakuna matata.

God bless us all.
