Do they get beat up on this issue?

Walls and fences?

You betcha!

The West Bank Wall is highly controversial, within and outside of Israel.

I personally am in favor of having A wall, but not necessarily THIS wall, which cuts deep into the Green Line to encircle certain chosen Jewish settlements, and carves up Palestinians farmlands. A security wall that was intended strictly for security along the Green Line, and which did not try to make new borders "on the ground" would be fine. This wall has a lot of political agenda to it.

As to this new fence along the Egyptian border... I have no problem with that. If others do, tough sh!t.

If you were a true Australian you'd never say that.

Villa's last living son, Ernesto Nava, died in Hayward, California, at the age of 94, on December 31, 2009. He didn't reveal his secret to the world until about 15 years before his death. He would appear yearly in festival events in his hometown of Durango, Mexico, enjoying celebrity status, until he became too weak to make the trip anymore.

kinda an interesting read, but I will have to check it tomorrow as it is bed time for me (and I swore I was going to get to bed early tonight.)

It seems this wall has as much to do with keeping out Illegal workers, consider the area this wall is being built.

The farmers and consumers of this nation have apparently spoken, we like cheaper produce and farm goods.

We don't hold the same sort of grudge over the Alamo, either as Americans or Mexicans and the Israelis and their Arab neighbors do.

The US - Mexican border is 3169 km (1969 miles) if wiki is to be believed, and should be a close enough figure for our purposes. From your article Israel will build a wall:

"The two fences will cover nearly half of the 150-mile (250-kilometer) border"

Two very different size construction projects, with two extremely distinct sets of issues. Not really the same at all.

Agreed they are logistically two different situations, but I found it interesting that.

A. the principle to build a wall is kinda universal.

B. They are clearing doing it to maintain a population of one specific Race. religion.

It seems when other countries take any such steps they are lambasted to no end.

I don't see anything wrong With Israel seeking to preserve their Country and it's current "flavor" of people, I just think other countries should be able to do likewise (if they want) without being bashed for it.
